Hello all,
I have noticed several times that whenever I try to install Fedora
operating system,
In language preference, by-default I see Hindi as in first place, not
in
English,
Why is it so?
Does Fedora community think that Hindi is a national language of India?
If yes, I would like to inform you, it's not [1].
This issue making superiority complex over language in India.
There were several incidents/ protests happened over the country
regarding
this language issue [2] [3]
I wouldn't want to feel the same in Fedora as well.
So I would like to request you to put English in the first place
instead of
Hindi to resolve this issue.
As most of the Indians (Especially south Indians) don't understand
Hindi.
Please let me know if I am wrong.
I hope my point is correct.

Note: I just requesting you to change the priority of choosing the
language.
So I kindly request you to not debate on this issue.
Thanks,

Hi,
what's the behavior with other desktop/distribution? It is unlikely Fedora has a
unique way of treating with language code which are coming from standards.
I think you should discuss this with i18n team (mailing is: i18n@lists...), and prior to
contact them, open a new issue in bugzilla.
This is translation mailing list, you may find some help about how to translate, what to
translate and announcements.
The i18n handle everything related to the mechanisms to bring translation into the system
(locale management, keyboard, fonts, Unicode, etc).
They would probably bring you in touch with anaconda team.
Have a nice day,
