Proposal: Fedora G11N Steering Committee

Hi All, I am sure, most of the people working with Fedora I18N, L10N from 5-6 year must be aware regarding Fedora L10N Steering Committee. [1] As far as i know this committee was active around 2009 and very effective. During Fedora G11N activity day discussions, we again felt there is need for some kind of official committee to drive Fedora Globalization activities. Fedora is growing faster with number of different domains and G11N also need to adapt those changes quickly to remain on the track. For this purpose and in line with [1], we were thinking of Fedora Globalization steering committee. I have created initial proposal for it. [2] Its open for feedback, please feel free to share other active members, discuss in your respective language groups. This is just initial proposal and i am sure, we can improve and make it more effective with active participation. New project in Beta: ibus-typing-booster

Dear translators, Mike Fabian accepted to be a beta test project for our translation platform with Ibus Typing Booster. Weblate translation problems

While translating to Odia in weblate, I often get invalid source strings to translate like: "modules/ROOT/nav.adoc" "ROOT::index.adoc" Translating these type of strings would essentially break the code and not translating these would make the language translation incomplete. So shouldn't these strings be excluded from translation? Other language translators, how do you handle such strings?

Weblate test server: please write your feedback

Dear translators, as described in https://teams.fedoraproject.org/project/translation-platform-migration/epic… we now have a test server for Weblate! Here is the process to give it a try: 1. Connect https://translate.stg.fedoraproject.org/projects/ 2. Log in with your FAS account 3. Start translating (the three available projects are related to our documentation and contains general purpose content) 4. You’ll see the result on https://docs.stg.fedoraproject.org (it is updated once a day) 5. Send your feedback and question on our translation mailing list so we can do our best to find the right configuration of the tool for our community While we say this is a test server, all translation done is stored and will remain, whatever happen with this server. Docs config file in weblate

Hi, I noticed that in the translations on weblate you could find fedora-l10n/council/master/antora.yml [0], which is config file and shouldn't be translated at all. It will be better to remove it from the translations. Status update - Migration platform

Dear translator teams, it's been two weeks since we have our translation server: https://translate.stg.fedoraproject.org/ * we now have 47 users and 28 languages [0] * no complaint about the tool, so I understand there is no major issues for now * Weblate was already update 3.9 [1] * Brian is answering legal question (terms of services and GDPR) I can't do anything there The tree projects we have are about our documentation project. Steps are as follow: 1. doc sources are written in adoc 2. we convert it in pot files 3. weblate talks with the repo to get pot and upload po files 4. po files are generated into translate sources adocs files 5. translated sources are used to publish the doc in multilingual Until step 4, it works really fine [2], but publishing is still buggy [3], but it requires Adam to come back from holiday (next week). Current issues to solve are in our taiga tracker [4]. It is time to start with a few more projects wiling to be part of the beta. Mike Fabian offered to use ibustypingbooster as a tester. I'll start configuration soon. If someone know any other project willing to join the beta period, do not hesitate to tell. As a bonus, the Weblate's dev created a plugin to publish events in fedora messaging [5], this will allow to measure our community activity and allow some interesting benefits like localization badges!
