Important, urgent: Translation of new browser splash page (only 24 messages)
by Dimitris Glezos
To all translators, urgent request:
As some of you may already know, we are trying to change the default browser
splash page of FC6 to something more meaningful, like the following draft:
http://dimitris.glezos.com/box/foss/fc6-browser-splash/
Since this is will be the default homepage of the user's browser, every user of
FC6 will see it every time he (she) opens his browser. We really need to
localize this page **as much as possible**.
It would be great if you spent some time translating the strings of this page.
In total there are only 24 messages. They can be found in the PO files of the
release notes on the i18n CVS server. They are located almost at the top of the
POT file and are marked with "en_US/homepage.xml", like this:
#: en_US/homepage.xml:8(title)
msgid "Welcome to Fedora Core 6!"
msgstr ""
Even if you won't be able to translate the Release Notes, you can translate
these messages and we will be able to provide the user with a localized version
of this page. If you did translate it, please commit the file and let me know.
If you need more help, ask away, right away. :)
Thanks for all your hard work. We are really close to FC6, so let's all put our
best effort to make this a spectacular release.

Release notes translation -- what's up?
by Dimitris Glezos
We are less than 3 days before the translation freeze and the POT file for the
relnotes hasn't landed yet on i18n?
Can we get some information about what's going on?

Few updates to pirut :/
by Jeremy Katz
I updated the pirut pot file today as there were a few strings not
marked for translation and a very late breaking request to let people
know if they're not getting updates. I'll watch for translation updates
and try to pull them up until the last minute. Apologies for any
inconvenience but I figured it was better to at least have a _shot_ at
getting the missed strings translated

new RELEASE-NOTES.pot available
by Karsten Wade
The new release notes POT file is available.
We matched the tagging to use the same tags as in test3. Hopefully this
reduces the false fuzzy and false untranslatable entries.
asalam - Please check this POT file and confirm that it is OK for
inclusion in i18n.redhat.com. Upload it ASAP.
Thanks - Karsten

Adding georgian support in anaconda
by George Machitidze
Hello,
I want to know what is finally needed to add support of this language
in installations and language-selection utiliy.
1. Entry in lang-table file (anaconda) - "Georgian ka
latarcyrheb-sun16 ka_GE.UTF-8 us Asia/Tbilisi"
2. Bitmap fonts (must be available soon in unifont)
3. GTK fonts
4. Entry in scripts/genlocalelist.py (anaconda).
...
...
I see there is a freeze, but i want to test georgianized version,
because i know there are problems with fonts. I have created patch
for anaconda for georgian schools, but i get cubes with georgian
support, so i removed ka.po from anaconda package. After installation
i've got some ugly fonts (there are no unicode fonts for georgian in
fedora, but maybe i saw ugly "fixed" or "unifont")

Fedora tools don't give credits to translators
by Dimitris Glezos
Hello all,
I just noticed that some of the system-config-* applications do not have a
"Help" -> "About" -> "Credits" -> "Translators" menu, which is there to give
credit to translators of the particular locale. All GNOME applications that I
have seen do have this menu item. I suggest we incorporate this too.
In the "About Fedora" dialog, there is a link saying "visit our website at
http://fedora.redhat.com/About/Projects/translations/". Shouldn't that be
changed to link to the wiki?
I also checked out the wiki at /L10N but did not find there any list of
contributors to the translation project. I believe we should create one. This
should be done in addition to the suggestion of the first paragraph, since many
people hold the copyrights of the translations to our software that are not part
of the Translation Project. Their names can be found on top of the .po files and
in the `translation-credits` msgstr.
Thanks in advance.

problem with RELEASE-NOTES.pot, hold translations
by Karsten Wade
Because of a misunderstanding, the XML that made the RELEASE-NOTES.pot
file for the final FC6 is very different from the test3 version.
This is going to cause a number of entries to be marked as untranslated
or fuzzy that do not have different content, but the XML has changed.
Because the incorrect POT file has not been loaded into i18n.redhat.com
for translation, we are pulling that file.
DO NOT translate the current RELEASE-NOTES.pot. WAIT until we check in
a new one and send email back to this list.
This is going to be done in the next 24 hours.
If you know what you are doing and feel you can proceed with the current
POT file, please go ahead and translate what you can. Be aware that
many of the inline XML markup is going to change, that is, most of the
<code>foo</code> lines are going to be changed in the old and new
content.
Thanks - Karsten
