Proposal: Fedora G11N Steering Committee

Hi All, I am sure, most of the people working with Fedora I18N, L10N from 5-6 year must be aware regarding Fedora L10N Steering Committee. [1] As far as i know this committee was active around 2009 and very effective. During Fedora G11N activity day discussions, we again felt there is need for some kind of official committee to drive Fedora Globalization activities. Fedora is growing faster with number of different domains and G11N also need to adapt those changes quickly to remain on the track. For this purpose and in line with [1], we were thinking of Fedora Globalization steering committee. I have created initial proposal for it. [2] Its open for feedback, please feel free to share other active members, discuss in your respective language groups. This is just initial proposal and i am sure, we can improve and make it more effective with active participation. moving to Weblate?

Hi, With the gradual demise of Zanata whose service reliability is getting worse I hear, I am wondering what do people think about moving Fedora Translations to the Weblate platform? https://weblate.org I believe a few people here have tried it and liked it. Of course it is a big job to switch but in the long term it looks more viable. Does it lack any important features compared to Zanata? Jens

GNOME internationalization release notes and Fedora?

Hello translators, When reading the GNOME 3.32 release notes, I noticed this page: https://help.gnome.org/misc/release-notes/3.32/i18n.html.en It tells us the list of languages with more than 80%. I feel like it could be interesting to start producing something equivalent for Fedora. Thanks to Sundeep Anand, we now have Transtats, and the following page looks like to contain the required information: https://transtats.fedoraproject.org/releases/view/fedora-30 (remember to click "Detailed" on top right. If we want to do such things, I assume it means: * agree on the minimum list of packages to take into account * validate the values of transtats is good for these package (we need to validate one or two language results per package) * draft the appropriate documentation page What do you think of this? Are you willing to help so we have it for F30? (according to the schedule, it means we have one month to produce it) In the future, I hope this work may be automated and provided directly by Transtats ;)

Request to become coordinator of italian team

Hi! In the recent weeks I discovered that Italian team is a bit abandoned, coordinators are unreachable and the activity on the mailing list is not very high. I recently joined in Fedora project, and I want to contribute starting from localization, but the absence of coordinators is preventing me to contribute (still today, after four weeks of request, I am not approved in the Italian team on Zanata). For this reason I would like to become a coordinator of my team, replacing Silvio Pierro (perplex) and Gianluca Sforna (giallu), the current coordinators. I sent an announcement[0] on the local mailing list and other people seem to like my decision. Now, the wiki page on how to become a coordinator seems a bit old[1], so I don't know what I need to do (especially who do I need to ask to get Zanata access and other similar things). I have another problem: on FAS I've requested to join on cvsl10n group, but after four weeks no one have accepted me.
