Translator role approval problem
by Игорь Горбунов
Hi, All,
a new translator (Alexander Felda, user name *afeld*) tries to become a
translator for Russian group. He successfully performed all necessary steps
as described in https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/L10N/Guide to join the
group, but still cannot get access to translations.
Now he is present in Fedora Translators Group (cvsl10n) member list as
*afeld*, there is no sponsor, status is unapproved and role jusst a user.
What can I do (as a group coordinator) to fix the problem?
Best wishes,
Igor Gorbounov,
coordinator of Russian Group

Anaconda: call for translators
by Michal Konecny
Hi,
On regard of the Anaconda team I'm sending following call.
Michal
"""
Hello everyone from our great translators community!
I would like to kindly ask you to help us with translations and fixes
of translations of the Anaconda project[0] (OS installer). The main
reason why we need your help is that we did a plenty of code changes
recently (one or two Fedora's back). Right now we have plenty of
translations which are not consistent.
Some of the major changes we did are, switching Anaconda to modularity
(plenty of code reviews), and using different string formatting method
giving us better control over these strings (change from %s to {}).
Some of the languages which need your help:
Afrikaans - Strings with any failing checks — 4,112 words
Czech - Strings with any failing checks — 5,565 words
Danish - Strings with any failing checks — 3,453 words
Japanese - Strings with any failing checks — 3,317 words
Korean - Strings with any failing checks — 2,487 words
Portuguese (Brazil) - Strings with any failing checks — 2,254 words
Russian - Strings with any failing checks — 2,045 words
Serbian - Strings with any failing checks — 1,822 words
There are also plenty of translations missing from the newly
implemented stuff so feel free to take any language you want.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me directly. I'm
not part of the translators mailing list.
Thanks for your help,
Jirka from the Anaconda team

Changing language at docs.fedoraproject.org
by Piotr Pastuszak
Hello,
probably this should go somewhere else, but i'm new here and don't know where.
While documentation is translatable and is translated on translate.fedoraproject.org it doesn't show itself in docs. As in I cannot change language to anything but en-US.
What's wrong or what I'm doing wrong?
Thanks

developer and currently, I'm working with web development as a
freelancer home office.
I have been walked through distributions like Ubuntu, Debian, Linux Mint,
but when I know Fedora I have been passionate about it because of the
stability of the system, its
versatility, and the amount of innovation, all that together on a fully
functional operating system. I adopt it, I want to be part of that, I
want to contribute as part of the Portuguese-BR translation team. I'm
learning more about Fedora and
I want to contribute more in other ways in the future.

interesting, do we have any usage statistics? Such as the number of sync
issue we solve?
for localization/l10n statistics, we had quite a lot of stats in the
presentation done last year at flock:
https://static.sched.com/hosted_files/flock2019/26/2019-08-10%20Flock.pdf
page 8 gives the number of words translated in 2019, I can update it if
required. I think it should also be easy to get the number of unique
translators.
page 14 tells you the Fedora Workstation LiveCD alone is 1.3 million
english words to translate.
page 15 tells you we (the linux community, us included) deliver
translations for 108 languages, and have an global translation average
of 17,8%.
page 18 is too complex to share without explanation, it contains
statistics of the content with see in Gnome Software, and the trend over
the last 3 and 5 releases.
we moved to a new translation platform, and while decision was taken in
2019, at December 31th, we only had 5 migrated projects:
https://fedoraproject.org/w/index.php?title=L10N_Move_to_Weblate&oldid=56...
I think it would be more appropriate to count it as 2020 statistics.
