It's worth bearing in mind that final decisions have not yet been made,
other than one important one. KDE SC 4.5 will ship with KMail from
4.4.3.
There is certainly no need to panic. The decisions are being made
on
grounds of security and user comfort.
Yes, of course. No panicking is occuring, just trying to get out in front
of things. A lot of users are displeased with kdepim 4.4.3 even, so any
improvement we can get is well worth it, imo.
At the moment it's not clear whether it will be easy, or even
possible,
to
have parallel installations of KMail. We can expect to hear more
bout
that
as release time gets nearer. A number of possibilities are being
considered and evaluated.
Yup, and I"m playing with a few too... I'll keep in touch with the PIM
folks as we get closer to release. FWIW, I'm using akregator, korg, kabc
and blogilo from current trunk, and kmail1 with no issues.. Obviously
Kontact doesn't work with all of them together.
