Ping Rex
by Anne Wilson
Rex, some time ago you told me the best way to start gpg-agent under Fedora.
Unfortunately I can't find the message, and I have problems with agent on the
F10 netbook and the newly repaired CentOS 5.2 box. If you could tell me again
I'll make sure that it is easily found - a gpg page has been started on
userbase, so I could put it there.

KWord has lost its toolbox
by Anne Wilson
I installed the RC package of koffice2 when Rex built it, and recently updated
it to the 2.0.0 version. I'm struggling to use kword, as the toolbox appears
to have gone missing. Any ideas?

OpneGL after upgrade to Fedora 11 not working
by Martin (KDE)
Hallo there
after a upgrade from Fedora 10 to 11 my openGL no longer works as
expected. The windows flashes and disapears, Icons are missing,
decoration borders are missing, buttons shows up and disapears. With
F10 everything works as expected. I have tried xrender and it works,
but it is slower as openGL. Currently I have disabled the openGL
stuff.
My hardware: ATI 9200SE on a pentium 4.
Any tips?

Display corruption in KDE on F11 with intel graphics
by Andreas Petzold
Hi,
since I've upgraded from F10 to F11, I'm getting corrupted graphics in
many kde apps. See
http://iktp.tu-dresden.de/~petzold/corrupt.png
for an example. Usually, the desktop background is displayed in
toolbars instead of the regular toolbar background, but sometimes this
also happens in other places. If I resize the window or mouse-over the
affected parts of the window, the problem fixes itself, but it will
reappear soon. I've only seen this with kde apps and not with others
like firefox. Since F10 and F11 use the same qt version I suspect the
intel drivel for my venerable i830 graphics chipset is at fault. Does
anybody on this list use F11 with kde on a machine with an (old) intel
chipset with or without the same problems that I'm seeing? I haven't
had the time to play around with any of the different acceleration
options of the new intel driver, I'll check that later.
Cheers,
Andreas

KDE Scanning software
by Arthur Pemberton
I remember in older versions of Fedora, scanning via SANE with KDE was
very easy, there was a dedicated SANE frontend, right now there seems
to be none. If either of you maintainers have the available cycles,
please take a look at Skanlite[1] it's the KDE4 SANE frontend listed
on the SANE website. I'll be checking as to if there is something
better for this task.

libical-0.43.tar.gz
by Graeme Nichols
Hi,
I have KMyMoney2 installed on my Fedora 8 machine and wish to install
the Calendar Plug-in.
To do so I need the libical headers which means that as well as the
subject tarball I also need the libical-devel-0.43.tar.gz tarball.
Unfortunately after hours of Googling I cannot find the devel tarball.
Can anybody point me in the right direction for the devel tarball?
Or better still, will the RPM packages for Fedora 9 install under Fedora
8? The Fedora 8 RPM packages are not of a high enough release. KMyMoney2
need libical-0.33 or higher.

Kind regards,
Graeme Nichols.

Does this apply only to so called "Fedora desktop" = Gnome or to Fedora
Desktop - as desktop environments (KDE, LXDE, XFCE4)?
If only for Gnome, can we attend this effort either? Speaking in name of KDE
SIG? It looks really interesting for me - avoid small bad user experience.

Name/GenericName entries in .desktop files
by Sonic
Hello
I was tracking a bug about KRunner not find results for entries like
gimp, pidgin etc. and Aaron Seigo asked to check the corresponding
.desktop files.
When I check /usr/share/applications/pidgin.desktop, I find that both
'Name' and 'GenericName' entries have "Internet Messenger".
Isn't it more appropriate to have the Name as the name of the
application (Pidgin) and the above as the GenericName? In fact almost
all translations of Name have Pidgin in them.
It seems KRunner looks in Name, GenericName and Keywords entries in the
.desktop files. And since pidgin is mentioned in neither of these, it
isn't listed.
See the bug report: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=162497
Can anything be done about this?
regards,
Syam

synce-* depsolving problem

There are new synce-* packages in updates for f11, that don't play
well with kde-redhat, maybe some packages there need to be updated?

You could try using --skip-broken to work around the problem
