nntp (aka, usenet) client in kde?
by Gene Smith
I currently use t-bird with an nntp account pointing to gmane to read
this list and sereral others. Does kde have an nntp client program of
any sort? I don't see it as a possible new account type in kmail. Also,
search with kpackagekit yields nothing with "usenet" or "nntp" that is
kde specific.

Is K on 32 bit Rawhide working for anyone?
by Felix Miata
It hasn't worked for me since before 22 branched, on at least a half dozen
installations including Intel, ATI and NVidia. KDM works, but beyond that is
only a black screen, mouse pointer, and eventually a popup reporting a
krunner crash. Skipping KDM and trying startx is no better. .xsession-errors
is empty. Is there anything in
http://fm.no-ip.com/Tmp/Linux/F/xorg.0.log-gx27b-f23-201502251943 that says
why? Any known obstacle to X in Rawhide?

kde problems on EL6
by Orion Poplawski
New installs of EL6 with kde-redhat stable are failing with a conflict between
samba4-common and samba-common. It appears that kdenetwork-fileshare-samba
requires "samba4" which pulls in samba4-common. Meanwhile cifs-utils ->
samba-winbind -> samba-common.
So, does kdenetwork-fileshare-samba really require "samba4" or would "samba"
suffice?

akonadi console
by Timothy Murphy
I used to have an akonadi console icon,
which came up when I typed "akonadi" in f->Applications.
I assumed it had disappeared until I read
"I just had a go at adding top level IMAP folders in akonadiconsole,
and it works fine" in a recent post from a KDE user.
I used to employ it when KMail brought up the message
"Retrieving Folder Contents Please wait"
which otherwise continues waiting indefinitely.
I take it from the posting above that akonadiconsole still exists?
If so how can I access it.

User switching broken
by Patrick O'Callaghan
I have Plasma-5 and SDDM under F21. Switching sessions to another (test)
user, also with Plasma, works. Switching back again gives flashing
display garbage and the session is unusable. The problem appears to be
with switching to VT1, not to the content of the sessions as such (i.e.
if I start the sessions in the reverse order the same problem happens).
I have an Nvidia card with the proprietary driver.
I tried reporting this to bugs.kde.org but there doesn't seem to be a
category for SDDM, which I would think is the culprit.

I seem to no longer have working power notifications or auto hibernate
on low battery on F21 + updates-testing. Any one else seeing this?

Same problem with Matrox G400. I forgot to mention last time a popup reports
plasmashell aborted.

KDE SIG Badge
by Ralph Bean
Hello all,
A new Fedora badge has been proposed for "membership in the KDE SIG":
https://fedorahosted.org/fedora-badges/ticket/132
As far as I can see, there is not a formal definition of membership in
the group. Some options for awarding the badge:
- We could create a new FAS group and trigger the badge awarding off
of that. Lots of other badges work this way, so it is easy to do.
The only downside is that you have a FAS group with no other real
purpose than for handing out badges. It has to be maintained,
pruned eventually, etc..
- Or, instead, we could take one or two volunteers from the SIG to be
'in charge' of the badge. There is a self-service interface in the
webapp where they could manually award the badge to sig members as
they see fit.
I'd like to do it however the sig wants it done. Can you hash it out
and let the badges crew know by posting back in the trac ticket above?
Cheers-
-Ralph
