nntp (aka, usenet) client in kde?
by Gene Smith
I currently use t-bird with an nntp account pointing to gmane to read
this list and sereral others. Does kde have an nntp client program of
any sort? I don't see it as a possible new account type in kmail. Also,
search with kpackagekit yields nothing with "usenet" or "nntp" that is
kde specific.

Some icons missing?
by Florian Sievert
Hi guys,
I have some strange issues here with some icons not being displayed.
Hopefully someone can help or at least confirm that he is observing
something similiar.
1. Amarok icon does not show in the system tray making it every
difficult to use. It seems like it is actually in the tray, but where
the icon shall be there is a gray area. However the context menu shows
up when clicking at it and seems to be basically working fine, except
there is no icon?
2. I think that most GTK applications are affected by something
similiar. However this time the task bar is affected. Applications like
"gPodder" or "eclipse" does not show any icon in the task bar and thus
making it difficult to identify them easily. The icons seems to be
basically available and seems to be working fine e.g. with a folder view
on the desktop.
Any ideas or similiar observations?
Best regards,
Florian

klipper in Fedora 23 *argh*
by Reindl Harald
am i the only only where clipper indepedent of the options you use
replaces the clipboard with the current selection which is braindead
when you select the text you want to replace with CTRL+V
BTW:
currently in konqueror in need to use "copy" for files twice because
after the first attempt it asks for a name and tries to paste the
clipboard instead the files from the other tab/instance

adding file type
by Glenn Holmer
F23 KDE spin, all patches applied.
I'm having trouble adding a file type (System Settings, Applications,
File Associations). The use case is to be able to click on a Commodore
64 disk image and have it come up in a Java program I wrote (this worked
in previous versions).
I click the Add.. button to create application/d64, then add an icon and
the file extensions, and specify my program under "Application
Preference Order". After clicking "Apply", I see the "updating system
configuration" dialog briefly.
But after closing system settings and reopening it, the new file type is
nowhere to be found (and of course, clicking on a file of that type does
nothing but prompt me with the "Open With" dialog).
Is anybody else seeing this? As I say, it worked before; I've been doing
this for years in KDE.

kde4-fedora copr
by Piotr Gbyliczek
Hi,
Just wanted to announce that kde4-fedora copr repository[1] entered permanent
beta stage now.
When I picked up the idea of creating kde4 repo for future versions of fedora,
It started in alpha stage. Things were broken or not installing on vanilla
install then.
Thanks to Rex Dieter and Sergio Basto I've got it to the point where it is
easily installable with one command (two if you count enabling repo) on both
F22 and F23, therefore I consider that alpha stage has finished.
I think beta stage will be permanent, as we will be always catching up
rawhide, as well as it sort of breaks vanilla install. Consider it a sort of
warning that you may need a bit more just dnf install sometimes.
As before, any feature requests or bug reports, please go to issue tracker for
the project, available here [2] and via copr project contact link.
Regards,
Piotr

panel tooltips
by Glenn Holmer
I find tooltips on the panel at the bottom of the screen distracting,
and would like to disable as many as I can. For the task manager,
there's an option in its context menu. Is there a way to turn off
tooltips for launchers and the pager as well?

This is getting annoying
by Ed Greshko
OK.... So I my F22 system is fully updated with the plasma, qt5, and kf5 packages.
My sessions are restarted from a saved session which consists of just a konsole window
with 3 tabs. Upon login everything seems fine. I can move the mouse, I can issue
commands in any konsole tab.
Then as soon as I launch something, such at Thunderbird, one of two things will occur. Either
A. Kwin will crash
or
B. The screen will semi-freeze. I can move the mouse around but the launched process
will not appear and I can no longer type in the konsole. I also cannot bring switch to a
VT as it seem the keyboard is not being recognized. I have to ssh in and issue a "killall
-9 drkonqi".
After running into A or B, everything seems to work fine until the next time I
logout/login. I don't logout very often so it isn't "serious" but it is annoying.
Not certain how to BZ this.

Presentation & Documentation
by Gerardo Rosales
Hi guys,
I hope this email find you all well.
I've been collaborating with the translation team for little more than a
year, this is my user page for the Fedora Project [1].
I recently joined to the KDE-SIG because after jumping from DEs I still
find KDE Plasma to be the DE that suits best my needs.
I want to do something more than just report bugs, after checking the
SIGs/KDE page [2], I decided to collaborate with the Fedora spin-specific
documentation:
- Release Notes. (I would like to work on this for this release, and
also future ones)
- KDE Wiki.
- Desktop User Guide.
I would like to get your feedback on the things that you will like and/or
needs to be included, and in this way we can make a To Do list and set work
priorities to start on.
I can't finish this without thank you all for your hard work/effort to
offer us a great DE for Fedora.
