nntp (aka, usenet) client in kde?
by Gene Smith
I currently use t-bird with an nntp account pointing to gmane to read
this list and sereral others. Does kde have an nntp client program of
any sort? I don't see it as a possible new account type in kmail. Also,
search with kpackagekit yields nothing with "usenet" or "nntp" that is
kde specific.

Annoying minimization
by Timothy Murphy
For some months (if not years) some action of mine -
maybe moving the cursor near an edge of the screen -
causes the window to be minimized,
and I have to press the Restore button in the top right corner
to get things back where they were.
This is particularly annoying when playing KPatience,
when the card one is clicking suddenly moves to the other end
of the screen.
Is there any way of avoiding this misbehaviour?

nm config wired @boot
by Neal Becker
I'm trying out F15beta. I don't see anywhere in nm to configure wired enet to
start @boot. In gnome this is apparantly called 'make available to all users'.
I do see an option for 'system', is that what I want? Selecting it gave me some
strange error.

Something changed in kde 4.6.2?
by Neal Becker
Has something changed in
kdebase-4.6.2-1.fc14.x86_64
that is causing kmail to keep asking for wallet password every time I send
email? (or at least, very often)

Thoughts on PackageKit being a hard-dependency
by Rex Dieter
Per, "phonon dependencies prevent running a reasonable Fedora without
PackageKit", https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=694169 there
currently is a hard
Requires: PackageKit-gstreamer-plugin
in phonon-backend-gstreamer.
The original rationale included:
1. ensure the gstreamer install-codecs-on-demand feature "just worked"
2. avoid phonon crashes when the pk-plugin was not present
Turns out, the crasher bug (2) has been fixed in phonon since. phonon
upstream continues to recommend the dependency (1) for usability reasons.
Now, we could try to pull in PackageKit-gstreamer-plugin by other means
(like comps), to avoid the hard dependency, and satisfy the reporter
(and supporters) of bug #694169.
Looks like Kevin prefers to keep the dep. I'll continue to have a
slight preference to defer to upstream's wishes to keep the dep.
Any other opinions? What say you?

KMix spins with 100% cpu since update to 4.6.2
by Clemens Eisserer
Hi,
Since updating to 4.6.2 kmix spins at 100% CPU, which is very disturbing.
Of course I reported the bug, but as usual, got no response back.
Any idea what could be the reason? Probably my second usb sound card?
Looking foreward to Gnome3, since switching to KDE-4.1 i hope that
someday kde will mature to the point where it has been with 3.5.10.
It took years to realize me it never will.
Thanks, Clemens

gnokii update in EPEL breaks kde for CentOS 5.5
by Havard Korsvoll
Hi
When we try to update our CentOS 5.5 systems, EPEL wants to update gnokii to version 0.6.29. But it seems like kdepim requires libgnokii on a previous version, 0.6.27. I hope it is possible to resolve this.
I am not sure if this is the right place to raise bugs. If not, can somebody guide me in the right direction?
Regards, Håvard Korsvoll

updating my F14 x86_64 laptop I get the following by yum update:

Sie können versuchen --skip-broken zu benutzen, um das Problem zu umgehen.
You could try running: rpm -Va --nofiles --nodigest
with kde-redhat, testing and unstable enabled.
Anything I can do?
