nntp (aka, usenet) client in kde?
by Gene Smith
I currently use t-bird with an nntp account pointing to gmane to read
this list and sereral others. Does kde have an nntp client program of
any sort? I don't see it as a possible new account type in kmail. Also,
search with kpackagekit yields nothing with "usenet" or "nntp" that is
kde specific.

kde builds for el6 status update
by Rex Dieter
Quick status update on el6 kde builds hosted @ kde-redhat repos...
* I moved the kde-4.10.x stuff from kde-unstable to kde-testing, finally.
* Over the past couple of says, started working on kde-4.11.x builds,
should be showing up in kde-unstable real soon, as soon as I work my way
through the last batch of stuff that doesn't build cleanly:

Enjoy.

4.11.1 / kopete / facebookchat
by Reindl Harald
anybody except me which can't connect to facebookchat any longer on F19
with 4.11.1 while XMPP/Jabber in fact works because it happily connects
to our internal prosody server?
the facebook connection always says "connecting" in kopete while
netstat shows it *is* connected but refuse to talk for whatever
reason

virtuoso taking too much cpu time
by José Abílio Matos
For the last month or so I am having the problem that virtuoso-t is hogging the cpu even when file and email indexing are suspended.
My main issue was that mail reading under kmail got really slow and while searching on the net for it I did not got any clue of how to see what virtuoso was doing and how to fix this issue.
Today I deactivated desktop search in system settings and now reading email got fast (and usable) again.
I am writing this message hoping that someone has an hint how to fix/debug this.
Regards,

cmake Qt4 experiment in rawhide
by Orion Poplawski
cmake's UseQt4 module automatically adds linkage for "dependent" modules when
requesting certain module usage. This caused at least one case of
over-linkage for plplot (linking in QtXml when it used QtSvg).
I've just built a new cmake for rawhide that completely disbles this
functionality. This means that if a program makes direct use of a Qt module
it would need to ask for it (e.g. with set(QT_USE_QTXML 1)).
I'm curious to know what if anything breaks with this. Please let me know if
a package of yours no longer builds with this change. FWIW - I've rebuilt
kdelibs and digikam locally as smoke tests with no problem. But I'll be happy
to revert if it causes too much grief.

Persecuted by akonadi
by Timothy Murphy
I'm currently being inundated by endless akonadi messages,
all of which are completely incomprehensible to me, eg
------------------------------
akonadi_nepomuk_feeder(6765) ItemQueue::removeDataResult:
"No such object path '/datamanagement'"
akonadi_nepomuk_feeder(6765) ItemQueue::batchJobResult:
Error while storing graph: "No such object path '/datamanagement'"
Nepomuk search service not available!
[repeated 20 times]
AkonadiAgentServer(6760)/kio (KDirWatch) KDirWatchPrivate::removeEntry:
doesn't know "/home/tim/.local/share/.local-mail.directory/trash"
[repeated 80 times]
------------------------------
Couldn't akonadi at least stop sending the same message repeatedly?

qt5 update?
by Peter G.
Are there any procedures involved in updating the system from qt4 to
qt5 in Fedora 19; or
will yum update do it automatically (so far, nothing happened, but
maybe the mirrors are not yet up-to-date)?

KMail "Retrieving Folder Contents
by Timothy Murphy
Sometimes I get the message
"Retrieving Folder Contents
Please wait"
when reading email on on KMail (under Fedora-19).
Nothing happens after this.
If I close KMail and re-open it, the message is still there.
Even if I log out (Ctrl-Alt-Backspace) and login again,
the message remains.
The only solution I have found is to re-boot the machine.
Has anyone else met this problem?
It occurs every 2 or 3 days, so it is not fatal.
But it is rather annoying.

KDE 4.11.00 intermittently forgets plasmoids (2013-10-05)

Well, it did it again today. But this time, the plasmoids, desktop
background & other settings were gone AFTER logging in after a reboot...
Rebooting used to be how I got all of that back...
But I tried something new. I logged out, and then logged back in the KDE
"Safe Session" Doing that, my desktop looked just like it is supposed to:
http://afolkey2.us/gallery3/index.php/Assorted/KDE4_11_00-Desktop-Screens...
Unfortuately, when I log out of the safe session, and back into a regular
KDE session, it looks like this again:
http://afolkey2.us/gallery3/index.php/Assorted/KDE4_11_00-Desktop-Screens...
If you need any information that I am not providing, just let me know and I
will get that to you.
