Ping Rex
by Anne Wilson
Rex, some time ago you told me the best way to start gpg-agent under Fedora.
Unfortunately I can't find the message, and I have problems with agent on the
F10 netbook and the newly repaired CentOS 5.2 box. If you could tell me again
I'll make sure that it is easily found - a gpg page has been started on
userbase, so I could put it there.

What do we use ~/Public for?
by Arthur Pemberton
I'm guessing that this is a desktop question as opposed to a devel
question, but I'm not on the -desktop list and here seems like the
next best place...
What exactly is ~/Public being used for? A regular user may thing that
places files there makes them... public.

Could Be a Really Really Dumb Question
by Eli Wapniarski
This could be one of the dumbest questions I've ever asked, but...
It shouldn't take hours and hours to add and switch kde language settings in
System Settings -> Regional & Languages -> Locale -> Add Language
should it? I had to cancel and then restore .kde from backup to get things
working again.
Remember to backup .kde if you're going to try this.
If this behavior is confirmed, then I will file a bug report
Thanks
Eli

Nepomuk/Strigi problem

My interpretation of the output is that the strigi service was reachable,
i.,e. started correctly, but didn't respond as expected (i.e. not having the
desired method available).
Probably a version mismatch between the caller (Nepomuk?) and the service.
Cheers,
Kevin
After today's updates that message has disappeared, but although I have
checked Enable Strigi Desktop File Indexer I still see 'Strigi service not
running'. Have I missed something?

fresh installed GUI application does not appear in KDE menu
by Orcan Ogetbil
How to reproduce:
- Install the latest KDE 4.2.0 from kde-redhat-testing *
- Install any GUI application that comes with a
/usr/share/applications/*.desktop file via yum
Actual result:
The application doesn't appear in the KDE menu until re-login
Expected result:
The application shows up in the KDE menu rightaway (well maybe with a
slight delay, but surely one shouldn't have to log out and back in).
I am 90% sure that this problem didn't exist in KDE 4.1.9? versions.
Can you confirm this?

First Impressions of 4.2
by Eli Wapniarski
On a Wow factor. I would have to give KDE 4.2 a Wo plus half of the final w.
:)
There was obviously a heck of a lot of improvements made to underlying code.
Heck, I've even restored Konqueror as my default browser. Nspluginwrapper /
flash is snappier in Konqueror than in Firefox. There are of course few of my
favorite features still missing but the result is getting more and more
impressive with every release.
Absolutely fantastic.

How Do You kget to start downloading automagically
by Eli Wapniarski
Hi
I'm having a minor issue with kget. When I try to download a file, the file
appears in kget, but it doesn't start downloading unless I open the kget
window and press on the start button. I can't seem to find a configuration
option that tells kget to start automagically. Is there such a thing or should
I file a bug report?
