nntp (aka, usenet) client in kde?
by Gene Smith
I currently use t-bird with an nntp account pointing to gmane to read
this list and sereral others. Does kde have an nntp client program of
any sort? I don't see it as a possible new account type in kmail. Also,
search with kpackagekit yields nothing with "usenet" or "nntp" that is
kde specific.

qt-4.8/kde-4.10 (hopefully) for rhel6 coming soon
by Rex Dieter
folks have repeatedly asked about newer/featureful kde builds for rhel6
over the years, and I've put off mostly due to lack of interest and
time... until yesterday.
Making some good progress, so our mostly empty rhel6 kde-testing repo
should see some significant content showing up over the next week or so.
Warning: It'll be rough initially, we're at the "it builds! ship
it..." stages, so copious testing and feedback would be greatly appreciated.
My strategy so far is to minimize upgrading core el6 packages as much as
reasonably possible. We'll see how far that takes us.

Qstars fix
by Colin J Thomson
Hi,
After installing Qstars:
qstars-0.4-12.fc19.x86_64
qstars-kde-0.4-12.fc19.x86_64
qstars-xscreensaver-0.4-12.fc19.x86_64
I could not see it listed in the System Settings > Display and Monitors >
Screen Locker.
Running kbuildsycoca4 --noincremental it threw up an error (missing trailing
semicolon) in the qstars.desktop file.
I made some other changes to the qstars.desktop file as well (which I think
is from qstars-kde) and it is now listed and works.
The changes where in this section:
[Desktop Entry]
Encoding=UTF-8
Type=Service
X-KDE-ServiceTypes=ScreenSaver
Name=QStars
Exec=qstars
Icon=kscreensaver
X-KDE-Category=Miscellaneous
Actions=Setup;InWindow;Root;
I know it is old an not supported by the author anymore but maybe others have
missed this cool screen saver :)

Activities problem with hidden borders
by Paweł Krupa
Hi,
First of all this is my first activity aroud here, but I'm KDE user since
4.0
edition and Fedora user since F14.
Recently, I wanted to get rid of titlebar (I have keyboard shortcuts to do
the
same stuff) so I created window rule:
[10]
Description=No Borders
noborder=true
noborderrule=3
types=4294967295
wmclass=
wmclasscomplete=true
wmclassmatch=0
Everything worked fine until I changed my activity from "Default" to
"Another
one" and all windows opened on "Default" were opened on "Another one" too.
After searching for explanation and maybe some kind of fix, I've found that
after disabling window borders, window become special and are visible on
all
activities.
Also chrome and opera do not use system borders (I know that they can use
them), so they are affected by this problem too.
And here is my question: is there any possibility to fix this?

Moving to the kde list.
I'm guessing that you have yum priorities configured. In that case you will
need to make the priority of the kde repos at least that of the epel and base
os repos because this repo will replace packages from those repositories.
FWIW - Looks like you can get digikam 1.2.0 directly from the EPEL repository.
Not sure if that is good enough for you.

sip for el6 in kde-unstable
by John Pilkington
Hi Rex: I would quite like to have the smart package manager GUI
available. It requires PyQt, which requires sip-api(6)=6.0
That is provided by sip-4.9.3-1.el6.i686 from sl, but not by
sip-4.14.6-1.el6.i686 from kde-unstable.
In all other respects the kde-unstable packages work very well for me.
Is this sip conflict an essential part of the unstable packages?
Thanks,
John P

KWallet service fails to start
by Juan Orti
Hello,
Since yesterday, when I boot the computer and log on, the KWallet
service fails to start. I cannot open my wallet, and the only way to
restore the normal behavior is disabling the KWallet subsystem
and re-enabling it.
I don't remember to have done something to broke it. How can I
debug what's going on? Any suggestion?
