I'm having a strange problem with my display resolution. This doesn't
happen with Gnome, so I assume it's KDE-related in some way.
Briefly, I have an HP Pavilion 23xi monitor connected via HDMI to an
HDMI switch, which in turns connect to two GPUs. One of these is an
Intel 915 on the motherboard and is what I normally use for Linux. The
other is an Nvidia GTX1050 which I use only for Windows gaming using a
KVM/QEMU VM with VFIO passthrough. What this means is that the Nvidia
card is masked (blacklisted) from Linux and is only visible to the VM.
In fact neither of the Nvidia nor Nouveau kernel modules are even
I now find that when I switch the monitor inputs from the Nvidia to the
i915, my display resolution is being reset to 1280x720 instead of its
normal 1920x1080. This happens *even when I'm not running the VM*. I
have to manually reconfigure the resolution using the KDE Settings
widget. This never used to happen, and I can see no reason for it to be
happening now, but it has started since I updated to Plasma 5.20. Even
if I'm running the Windows VM, the display is always set to the same
1920x1080, so I don't know where the lower resolution is even coming
Any thoughts on this would be welcome.
I'm running Fedora rawhide (plasma-wayland) in a libvirt VM and I see
the keyboard language setting is always English even if I set an other
language in the IBus language changer in the tray.
I wonder whether to report this bug against IBus or some other plasma or
Trying to get ahead of the curve and do some wayland testing. Noticed this:
Has anyone else experienced this. While great improvements have been made with Wayland, there are
still quite a few annoying quirks and bugs that IMHO should keep Wayland from being the Plasma default.
Sorry for the vague title but here's the situation:
When I click on a URL in Evolution, I get a browser window, but said
window invariably opens on the desktop where the browser originally
launched when I started my session, meaning I have to switch desktops
to see it.
Is there some magic that will always respond to clicks by opening tghe
window on the desktop where the click happened?
I'm not even sure if this is a KDE question, an X11 question, a kwin
question, a Plasma question, a browser question or what (though I don't
think it's an Evolution question).
I can't launch Spectacle with Print shortcut anymore. I can see Spectacle shortcut in Custom and Global shortcut settings. I can't set spectacle shortcut in the global shortcut settings. If I do set the shortcut in global shortcut settings then they go back to being unset as soon as I navigate away from the screen.
I opened a bug report here:
Firefox icons are missing from application launcher after upgrade. I tried
erasing .local, .kde and .config directories and starting from scratch, but
that didn't work.
The other application this is affecting is amule from the rpmfusion repo.
I also tried deleting and re-installing both firefox and amule... that
didn't help either.
Is this a kde issue or an application packaging issue?
Since Fx is involved, I would think that more people would be howling about
it if it were pervasive, so possibly something got smurfed in my kde
configuration during the upgrade, but I would have thought doing the steps
above would have corrected... so I must be missing something, but don't
know what that would be.
Every time I start Fedora it loads Dolphin, which I don't want.
Where should I look for it doing that (so I can stop it)?
I also notice that, even though I've closed it, there's still a (small)
dolphin process running... what's that about?
Thanks in advance
