I opened a bug report here: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1894700
Firefox icons are missing from application launcher after upgrade. I tried erasing .local, .kde and .config directories and starting from scratch, but that didn't work.
The other application this is affecting is amule from the rpmfusion repo.
I also tried deleting and re-installing both firefox and amule... that didn't help either.
Is this a kde issue or an application packaging issue?
Since Fx is involved, I would think that more people would be howling about it if it were pervasive, so possibly something got smurfed in my kde configuration during the upgrade, but I would have thought doing the steps above would have corrected... so I must be missing something, but don't know what that would be.
Thanks!

/usr/bin/systemsettings5 , you may choose icons theme , as firefox and amule use GTK in systemsettings -> aplication style -> configure gnome /GTK aplication style , you can choose several different themes I use adwaita for GTK2 and GTK 3 themes also you may install qgnomeplatform dnf install qgnomeplatform

Yes, I had oxygen set for that....

I have gnomeplatform installed, and changed to adwaita from oxygen, but didn't do any good.
@Ed Greshko, also answering your question here:
Have you tried clicking on the icon and change to a different icon to see if the change takes effect?
That depends upon the icon I am selecting. When I click on the icon to change, it comes up with a menu showing system icons and other icons. The default setting when entering is system icons, and the pull down is on Applications. If I pick the firefox icon from there, it appears to work, meaning that the icon appears in the Properties for firefox.desktop - plasma. But when I go back to the Application Launcher itself, the icon is now blank.
Now, if I pick the icon from another source, i.e. I select the Other Icons button and browse a location... say /usr/share/icons/hicolor/48x48/apps/ it works. It's as if something is screwed up in the system icons.

In your BZ you say "edit applications I see the icon file, but they don't show on the desktop". Have you tried clicking on the icon and change to a different icon to see if the change takes effect?
--- The key to getting good answers is to ask good questions.
I have the same issue on two computers running Fedora 33. If I restart KDE manually (killall plasmashell, kstart5 plasmashell) or in my case, latte-dock, without logging out the icons show up normally.

Thanks... it was worth a shot, but that didn't work for me unfortunately.
