I used google to get more information on this. It seems, that there is
a bug or similar in the radeon xorg driver that causes problems in
opneGL stuff. It is already reported, so I have to wait for it to be
fixed. I think there is already a bug report for this.

There sems to be some kinda problem generally speaking with xorg 1.6.1. I ran into issues
with wine. I'm using NVidia, so the problem is not confined to ATI chipsets. and
reported the problem and after much qa at:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=507589
If I were you, I would report the problem against kde so that more than one source and
more than one issue gets pushed at the xorg people from more than one direction.
