sorry just a quickie, if glibc had a patch in -5 which stopped the segfault in
glx apps, did that then get passed on up to -6 -7 and so on?
if so then why doesn't the latest glibc work?
and how come the an earlier nividia driver works with xorg 1.11.1-1, but the
latest doesn't.
sorry I don't expect you to have all the answer's, but what do you recommend I
do, I now have to wait for glibc, qt, kdelibs, and nvidia to catch up now.
or does a new glibc fix all these issues, bar the nvidia one??
They're two different bugs. -5 was completely broken - it caused just
about everything in the world to crash, no matter what your graphics
card is - and also it introduced a change which stopped NVIDIA working.
Somewhere around -8 or so the complete breakage was fixed, but the
change which prevents the NVIDIA driver working right has never been
touched. It's been in every build of glibc since.
If you want a working glibc+NVIDIA, you either have to run 2.14.90-4, or
use the latest build with the patch from
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=737223 , which reverts the
specific change in glibc that stopped NVIDIA working.
