Normally, I've been able to recover from this by dropping to console and
issuing "systemctl restart sddm", but this morning even that doesn't work.
Anybody else seen this? Know of a workaround or fix?
Yes, but I don't know if what I'm seeing has the same cause. In my case it
seems to be related to notifications and the desktop theme. Also, when it happens I
simply have to wait several minutes and it clears. Haven't timed it.
I can make it happen nearly every time. I use a desktop theme with transparent components
such as oxygen or "polished stones" and then just start firewall-config.
