akonadi-mysql should be installed by default, so I'm curious how you ended up without it. ??
Same problem here:
$ yum list akonadi akonadi-mysql
Installed Packages akonadi.x86_64
Available Packages akonadi.i686 akonadi-mysql.x86_64
I installed Fedora 17 Minimal Flavour, then installed KDE on top of it. Akonadi got installed without 'akonadi-mysql'. Maybe a dependency problem ?
