I'm not quite sure what you mean (exactly) here but if I go to
preferences/content settings and click the "Disable individual
plug-ins"
it tries to open "about:plugins" but this page doesnt render, it just
hangs. I guess I need to be able to disable these using a command line
switch.
Click on the spanner (or wrench, whatever you call it) in the top right
corner of the Chrome window. Select Tools->Extensions from the drop-down
menu. You'll get a new tab with a list of current extensions. You can
then disable (or even uninstall) any of them using the buttons provided.
