Hi,
Just wanted to announce that kde4-fedora copr repository[1] entered permanent beta stage now.
When I picked up the idea of creating kde4 repo for future versions of fedora, It started in alpha stage. Things were broken or not installing on vanilla install then.
Thanks to Rex Dieter and Sergio Basto I've got it to the point where it is easily installable with one command (two if you count enabling repo) on both F22 and F23, therefore I consider that alpha stage has finished.
I think beta stage will be permanent, as we will be always catching up rawhide, as well as it sort of breaks vanilla install. Consider it a sort of warning that you may need a bit more just dnf install sometimes.
As before, any feature requests or bug reports, please go to issue tracker for the project, available here [2] and via copr project contact link.
Regards, Piotr

Hello Piotr
I'm using KDE4 in F23 with your work and I'm very happy but working alive all day I can spot some (minor) issues.
http://pkgs.fedoraproject.org/cgit/apper.git/tree/apper.spec http://pkgs.fedoraproject.org/cgit/kde-runtime.git/tree/kde-runtime.spe c https://pkgs.fedraproject.org/cgit/kactivities.git
Links above have "%define plasma5 1" which usually removes some stuff which is for KDE4 , I'd like rebuild this packages without plasma5 defined I'd like reuse all brilliant Rex Dieter work, is petty that F21 will be EOL and we won't get more updates for KDE4 .
Analyzing some packages while I'm writing this email
kde-workspace branch f21 has been split
kde-baseapps wasn't been split but use rules like if 0%{fedora} < 22 which have to be reviewed , also have move dophin to dolphin4 , and we have a new dolphin package .
Conclusion many work to do , meanwhile KDE4 is working

This is brilliant, at least one person happier :D I'll have a look add adding the suggested changes soon, most likely over weekend.

Yay! :)
Sorry for the useless post, but I wanted to convey my excitement and support for KDE4.

Not sure about that, but just tried to build gwenview in latest version from F21. It failed, so I need to have a look at that.
I've rebuild apper and kde-runtime, so see if that helps with other things.
I'll test it later in the week on one of my test VMs for actual GUI experience.

Probably no need, f23 recently reverted to kde4 gwenview anyway, https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2015-6cbfcb59ee

There is still possibility that it targets something on KF5, but should be easier to catch it, if so. Is F22 reverting to that version as well ? Or it was on it already ?

That latter (it was already)
Regardless, as I mentioned previously in the thread, kf5 apps should run ok on top of any DE (including kde-workspace-4.x). If they don't, it's a bug we should fix.

I have acknowledged that, and agree with you that it would be better to limit the scope of the downgrade. However, part of some opinions was that newer versions are flawed with regression of functionality, therefore for the purpose of the repo I may need to look into downgrading some of them.
Specifically, if building a required downgraded package creates additional downgraded ones, (like kdesu build from kde-runtime.spec), then I'll settle down for that rather that working on exception in build. If they both work fine, that is.

Hum, I prefer limit the scope of the downgrade, because we have less work on maintain it, that is true some newer versions are flaw but they are also independent, so it is easier report it and get fixed from upstream .
So about kdesu I prefer have kdesu 5.4.3 ... , also khelpcenter is working without problems.
Conclusion seems that Rex is right, we is just need apper (updater applet) and kde-runtime-kuiserver , which Rex could fix it in kde- runtime of F23 , isn't it ?
KDE4 in F23 rocks, many thanks ,

I found at least two package that we need for KDE4 (on F23)
kscreen and kactivities
kscreen [1] change been completely replace here [1] we need build at previous commit .
kactivities [2] we just need set plasma to 0 , but is multilib , and could not find a way to force obsolete kactivities.i686 and kde- runtime.i686

I had a quick look at your changes, and it strikes me odd that you using x86-32. Shouldn't it be i686 rather ? That's the arch you are trying to obsolete.

I added :
apper (yours src.rpm)
kactivities (Epoch bump and #define plasma 0) and I test it I got activities manager working . kactivities have a problem because it is a multilib and I'm pretty sure that (x86-32) is the correct form :
rpm -E '%{?_isa}' (x86-64)
kscreen (Epoch bump , source kdelibs4 branch [1] ) We need apply kdelibs4_branch.patch to kscreen-1.0.2.1.tar.xz to be able to compile, kscreen is the quick display configuration item , very important when want plug monitor to your laptop , is the replace of krandr .
All packages: colord-kde kde-baseapps kde-print-manager kde-workspace kdeplasma-addons
Do we need rebuild also dolphin-plugins-15.04.3 ? #dolphin -v Qt: 4.8.7 KDE Development Platform: 4.14.14 Dolphin: 15.04.0
I'm prepare building dolphin-plugins-15.04.3
here is my repo [2] :

I did not do any work to cut kdesu and khelpcenter out of the repo, but they are not being pulled in by anything in my test install. However, I think Dolphin may be already downgraded, it is available in version 15.04.3 from kde-workspace build.

I feel "KDE -> system settings" , is missing some options, at least one, desktop search setting , I have to use balooctl (balooctl disable) to disable it. Yes I disable all desktop searches, mainly because I never use it and won't need it .
Also we can miss some kcm like kcm_touchpad .
While I'm checking differences of kcm(s) in F21 and F23 [1] , I found that I hadn't install baloo-kcmadv, maybe after restart KDE it will appear the desktop search , anyway F23 just have one less kcm ( kcm_touchpad ).
