I'm generating apt metadata, why are you not using it?
(I'd love to not do that anymore, it's by far the slowest part of my
repository updates scripts)
You shouldn't need to do this anymore. I've configured apt to use repomd. And yes
you can pin repomd just fine. There's a trick to getting a unique identifier for the
repo but its doable.
