I there a way to test new GIMP 2.7/2.8 in Fedora? I looked in Rawhide
repos and I still see only 2.6x versions there. Any plans to put 2.7 in
Rawhide repost for testing purposes?

I've been following the posts on this subject and here is what I am
thinking:
What if its an outer space scene with stars (having animated twinkles
... for the boot-up background image)? There would be asteriods and,
may be, one or two planets with 'our' rocket somewhere in the picture.
The scene would have a blueish hue to it. Its the kind of thing that is
best done with a 3D application like 'Blender' and rendered with V-Ray
or Yafray (and retouched in GIMP). I cannot help thinking about a
wallpaper I downloaded from CG-Arena ... just to help our imaginations
as I can't think of anything closer at the moment. My reference is a
bit busy but I hope it paints the right mental pictures.

I also see that we have limited time to agree on this based on
design-team Digest, Vol 9, Issue 32

Hi,
Why don't you make something abstract (light, time and space, and eventually something digital).
My current background looks like this (see the Attachment, pls.).
Well, it may not be Everest, but stays pretty well with the icons and the control panels and the frame of the monitor (the 'whole picture').

We could do something lunar based to complement the them that was used in fedora 10.

O design team:
The Marketing team is having a FAD in mid-March
(https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Marketing_FAD_2010) and as part of this
FAD we are making a brand book
(https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Marketing_FAD_2010#Day_2_.28Sunday.2C_March_…)
We're trying to figure out what (software) tools (and people who know
how to use them) we should have on hand during the FAD, and were
wondering if the Design Team had any recommendations (or better yet, any
people who might be interested in tag-teaming on the brand book with us. ;)
We'll be on IRC the entire time - if it helps, we could schedule an hour
of design brainstorming at the beginning, and then later in the NA
afternoon after we get content in, come back for another design sprint
on how we could best lay it out and such. But we /will/ be on IRC the
entire time, and anyone's welcome to pop in and work with us anytime
during that day they're free.
The list we have so far is at
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Marketing_FAD_2010#Materials_.2F_Tools -
it's basically "Inkscape and Scribus?" at the moment. What else would
you suggest? Should we do what we did for
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Fedora_12_one_page_release_notes and put
the content on the wiki as we work? Is Gobby better? Should we try for
collaborative Inkscape? (What questions should we actually be asking here?)
Many thanks,
--Mel
Hi !
I received a mail from the fedora-fr forum about this topic speaking about
Fedora's Firefox Personas. I'm one of these artworkers, and I designed the
Personas "Fedora-fr". I'll be glad to help the Fedora Artwork Team. :)
About me, I'm a 19 years old french Fedora lover, and my skills with Gimp
are very limited...but I would like to be better. :)
Let's visit my website and/or my Twitter account :

See you.

While I like the awe the black-hole pictures create ... I don't know why
I get the 'debian' feeling. Is it the spiral nature?

Hi,
If you intend to design 'black holes' maybe it should be compensated with bursting of a supernova or anything of the kind. (see attachment, pls.) Otherwise the picture stays 'unbalanced'.

Hi,
I was thinking how black holes would fit into the idea of Goddard theme.
Was doing a bit of research. Seems most existing images are quite
violent in contrast and colors, which would destroy the purpose of a
wallpaper.
But a bit of softening might yield a good design.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/gsfc/4253934347/ is quite Cambridge-ish,
but the idea is nice.
