The demo is up on my website.
We have tons of apps run by Fedora Infrastructure and a long-time
complaint is that they have inconsistent theming, and no chrome that
ties them together -- that makes them look like they're all part of
the same thing. Theming them consistently or adding a unifying chrome
would be awesome, but a very challenging and time-consuming task.
This little prototype is an attempt at making a single line of
that pulls up a menu taking you to other Fedora apps. It could
potentially display other information like "how to join!" and "don't
forget to book your tickets for Flock!" and.. etc. It falls short of
a unifying chrome, but I tried to make it simple enough that it won't
collide with the layouts and style of other pages.. something we could
actually deploy without exhausting ourselves.
It's a very rough early prototype, but how do people like the general
approach? Is anyone on this list interested in taking it and running
with it? The source is on github
A cool thing about it technologically is that it pulls its data for
the menu from the same source as the apps.fp.o landing page.
So, as we update that site, the menu will get auto-updated everywhere.
We can do other neat stuff like 'indicate the status of each app -- is
it working correctly at the moment or has the infra team marked it as
"down for maintenance"'.
With the alpha Freeze tomorrow, i quickly whipped up a wallpaper for the
alpha based on the triangles pattern that is used for the 3 flavors logos:
There are two variations in there too. Note that this probably won't
look anything like the final wallpaper -- we won't be bound to this
design (or the triangles at all) for the beta or final wallpaper, we
just needed something to get into the alpha to make it look different
from the f21 release.
The repo also has the blend files that i used to create the wallpapers,
if anyone wants to have a play and improve them.
I think also for the beta, we should aim at getting both a default
wallpaper and a default lock screen implemented and packaged up too.
Thanks to everyone who came to today's meeting! I think it went really
well and we got through a lot of tickets. Here's the logs from today's
Here's a quick summary of what we did:
- gnokii let us know he opened up supplemental wallpapers yesterday. The
deadline this time is tight - March 19 - so if you have some great
photos please submit them! http://karl-tux-stadt.de/ktuxs/?p=4730
- We triaged the following tix:
- 279 (Sadin is picking this one up)
- 350 (jurank)dankkal and twohot are going to work together on this one
- 355 (kept open, marked as triaged)
- 357 (mleonova picked this one up)
- 297 (closed for inactivity)
- 332 (closed for inactivity)
- We gave jurank_dankkal a critique for his work on ticket 353; we
needed more info from the reporter so we marked it as such.
Sorry it took a while -
So we talked about times for the fortnightly meeting befoer and I
realized I hadn't read the whenisgood results correctly at all - I had
thought I was maximizing the number of people able to go, but apparently
the numbers in the chart represent people who *can't* go (whoops!) (see
So let's do this - it looks like the most people can make the meeting
lunch time on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I'd like Ryan to be able to make
the meetings too, but he is moving to Australia at the end of next
month. We should do another whenisgood when he is there to figure out a
So let's meet next Tuesday, February 24, at this time:
9:00 AM Canada / Pacific
12:00 PM US Eastern
6:00 PM Africa / Lagos
6:00 PM Europe / Berlin
6:00 PM Europe / Rome
10:30 PM Asia / Calcutta
1:00 AM Kuala Lumper (Feb 25)
I have put this on FedoCal here:
FedoCal will send a reminder to the list 2 days before!
We didnt get to it during the FAD over the weekend, but a few people
were interested in how to create the triangles background that we are
using on the 3 flavours logos, and i was going to do a tutorial
explaining it, but we ran out of time :(
However, I thought (maybe as the first in a series), that i might be
able to conduct a live screencast for the design team on how to do this
Live screencasts like this would also be awesome to do semi-regularly so
we can all share our knowledge with each other.
Anyone keen to attend / view such a thing?
FUDCon - The Fedora Users & Developers Conference is back and this
time to be held in Pune – one of the premiere IT & Software hubs of
India!. FUDCon is a major free and open source software event held in
various regions around the world, with the aim of bringing Fedora
community members together to engage in various innovative
ideas/activities and showcase the new technologies developed.
FUDCon APAC 2015 is organized in association with the Maharastra
Institute of Technology College of Engineering (MIT COE) , one of the
premiere engineering colleges in Pune, at their Campus.
Keeping in line with the aim of increasing participation to Fedora
and engaging with various OpenSource communities, we hereby invite you
to submit proposals of interest for Talks, Workshops and Hackfests.
Please submit the proposals through below link on or before 9th
Red Hat Inc.
So looking at the responses we got to the fortnightly meeting
whenisgood.net schedule, I want to propose the following meeting time:
05:30 Kuala Lumpur
13:30 Vancouver (1:30 PM)
16:30 US Eastern (4:30 PM)
22:30 PM Berlin / Rome / Lagos (10:30 PM)
Can you hit reply and let me know if this works for you?
(This time wasn't explicitly on the list, but I'm trying to make sure
that at the least me and Ryan and gnokii can make the time since it'll
be one of us likely running the meeting. This time looked like we could
get a high number of participants based on folks responses for that time
slot on Tues and Thurs.)
Hello there, I wish to join the design team
Basically focusing on icon designs and UI modifications.
Am a student btw
Please do tell me the prerequisites/way to enter
I would.love to learn from those who are pre-involved as well.

When is the EMEA Ambassador meeting? It is at 00 or 30? If we pushed it
30 back or 30 forward would it help?
