Hi,
Christoph Wickert asked me to create a more "graphical" way for the
Ambassadors' joining process. [1]
At the moment this is some kinda click through way through seven pages
fully loaded with text and information. Which isn't very welcoming and
friendly, especially for new people. (I know what I'm talkin about as I
went through it not long ago!)
Now I made two mockups:
* a starting page:
http://vinz.fedorapeople.org/join-process/joining-intro.png
* some template for the following steps:
http://vinz.fedorapeople.org/join-process/joining-step.png
Maybe it's a possible way to create wiki templates for usage at every
team which has a joining process.
Comments?

Hi!
Friends call me Katie, strangers call me Niftyness, and awesome people
refer to me as "Katie Niftyness" ;)
About myself:
Studied Communication Design at Kutztown University of Pennsylvania [BFA].
Went on to teach Multimedia Design for a couple years, then worked as
an Interactive Designer [Pharmaceutical Sales Training] for about 3 or
4 years. After that, I took a year off to travel, explore, and create!
Having worked as a teacher and as an insider in the training business,
I am highly skilled at formatting instructional materials.
Things I can do:
Animation, info graphics, interface design concepts, branding
materials, style guides, video production, electronic communications..
and more!
My training is geared towards Graphic Design AND Interactive Design --
This means that I can do print work AND digital work.
Currently, I have an OLPC XO with Fedora/Sugar (default system specs)
and a dual-boot windows machine (Win 7 + Ubuntu 11).
My primary goal with regards to this community is to create wonderful
artwork using Open Source software. Whilst I am highly adept at using
Adobe products, they are simply not an economically viable solution
for an independent digital artist such as myself.
In addition to creating assets for the fedora project, I am also
interested in promoting fedora to a wider audience -- A deviantArt
group would be an excellent way to promote our work to a community of
highly talented artists who otherwise might not have known of fedora's
existence (I've read the wiki). I've been a fan/user of deviantArt for
almost a decade now, and it has proven itself to be an absolutely
fantastic community to work with.
Happy to be here,
- Katie

"Communication design is a mixed discipline between design and
information-development which is concerned with how media intermission
such as printed, crafted, electronic media or presentations
communicate with people. A communication design approach is not only
concerned with developing the message aside from the aesthetics in
media, but also with creating new media channels to ensure the message
reaches the target audience."
Hello
I have been fiddling about with forming a website and some social
network presence for making the local fedora communtiy work more
visible. For this, I wanted to use the Fedora logo in a local context.
However, the approved colours of the fedora logo does not match the
national colours of Denmark, which left me in a bind.
I have made to tries, one based on the remix logo and one with the
infinity symbol part replaced with a small flag. Personally I like the
flag one better, but I guess that the other one is closer to following
the guidelines.
Both attempts can be seen her:

I have not checked all alignment or sizing issues, but suggestions are
still welcome. And I should note, that it is just an idea, made with
approximated shapes, not the official svg's.
Regards,
Niels
Hi everyone.
Is anyone working on a grub 2 theme for fedora 16? If we start now we might
finish it in time, so we should better hurry, unless we want an ugly black
screen boot menu.
Grub 2 has powerful theme-ing options, and the background doesn't have to be
low color as in grub legacy.
More documentation here:
http://www.gnu.org/software/grub/manual/grub.html#Theme-file-format
I think we should implement something similar to Mo's idea (that was
originally for syslinux),
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Anaconda/UX_Redesign/Syslinux
Unfortunately, I don't know where to start and I don't have an F16 testing
machine available, so I can't do it myself.

Subject: Question about Anaconda graphics for F16
Date: Fri, 26 Aug 2011 13:52:19 -0400
Hi,
So for the past couple of releases or so the Anaconda GUI (and Firstboot
as well, I'm pretty sure) display at full screen size rather than stay
limited to 800x600 px as they used to be.
The gradient banner at the top of Anaconda looks odd because of this;
it's not long enough to cover the full width of the window. Firstboot at
least stretches out the left banner it has although this looks a bit
pixelated (at least when I'm running it in debug mode now it does. :) )
I am wondering what options are possible then to get Anaconda's banner
looking nice for F16. I poked around the anaconda.glade file; I think we
have a couple of options but I'm not sure how to do one of them:
OPTION #1: no gradient, left-align Fedora logo
This would basically look the same as it did pre-full screen mode, but
without the gradient. The glade file would have to be changed; the 'X
Align' value on the image in the glade file should be changed from 0.5
to 0, and the 'X Pad' value should be set to something like '10'.
OPTION #2: keep the gradient, but stretch it full screen.
I don't know how to do this, but I know it's possible... create a
container 105 px tall, and set the gradient as its background image with
'repeat' set. Then, place the Fedora logo in that container, aligned as
explained above.
I found some references to setting a widget/container background image
in GTK+ here:
http://mail.gnome.org/archives/gtk-list/2007-April/msg00045.htmlhttp://www.scribd.com/doc/45906237/Pygtk2-Tut
What do you think?

Hi gnokii,
Here's some ideas you might want to consider for modifying the FUDcon
Blacksburg logo:
- The top row is just providing a little bit of separation between the
FUDcon logomark and the feathers so the feathers can fit closer to the
logo. I just did this with a simple linked offset as a quick measure but
it could be done using path operations for a final version.
- The bottom 3 rows are attempts at more abstract variations. I think
that the original is a very accurate rendering of a feather, but Fedora
logo graphics tend to be rounded and geometrical so I thought maybe
smoothing the feathers you did might be something worth trying.

The SVG is in the same dir.

Hi team,
I have idea use two images (for even and odd days) for countdown banner [1].
First image (indoor) based on "iceberg wallpaper", second image (outdoor)
based on Julio and Julia Verne characters by gnokii.
