Hi,
Looking on our team and how it's worked for a while, you'll notice some
things going wrong right now. Some changes over time have affected the
design team. For example, there are no code names anymore, and fedora.next has
shifted how we will organize and ship Fedora. Also, our trac queue contains
a lot of open tickets that are very old, and we don't have an organized and
consistent way to share design assets (for example, our Fedora People shared
account hasn't been used in the past 3 years, and we've tried an art board,
Sparkleshare on git, and other solutions but none have stuck yet.)
We want to bring some light in that darkness, so Mo and I agreed on trying
to get the team together on a FAD. The main purpose for this FAD would be
to put a structure in place to help handle our work in the future, and make
design team collaboration (and new design team member ramp-up) easy and fun.
We think the FAD should happen over a weekend, from 16th - 18th January
2015, to enable more people to be able to come. Since the more active part of
the team is mostly US-based right now, we thought its the best idea to do in
the US, so the place will be near Boston in Westford, Massachusetts USA at
the Red Hat engineering office (we can use the facility for free and have
Mo and Ryan on the ground able to help.)
What we need now is to know who want to participate, so that we can
calculate the costs and arrange an budget for it. Here are the types of
things and skillsets we're looking for:
- Designers to help create badges, logos, mockups, etc. as requested in the
open tickets on our trac queue at
https://fedorahosted.org/design-team/report/1
- Designers and other technical folks willing to play around / try out and
evaluate different potential design team infrastructure tools and work out
ways we can integrate them into our team moving forward. This might involve
installing and playing with art boards, coming up with a SparkleShare
workflow, or experimenting with Glitter Gallery or any other related kinds
of tools that will help us store our assets and share our work with each
other.
- Anyone familiar with FAS to help us go through our membership list and
clean out inactive members and tend to pending requests.
- Designers and anyone else willing to participate in brainstorming a
solution about Fedora's release artwork process.
You can view our draft FAD proposal on the wiki:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FAD_DesignTeam_2014
Please add your name as an interested participant and let us know your
location / local airport so we can start putting together a full budget for
this event.

Dear Design Team
I am Praveen Patil from India. I am a physics teacher and have been working
with a project ExpEYES <http://www.expeyes.in> as a volunteer and have been
involved in FOSS training programs for science teachers.
Recently I met volunteers and ambassadors Kushal (who is my mentor),
Gnokii, Tuanta and Mario from fedora at FOSSASIA-2014, who inspired me
with fedora culture and spirit and helped me to take my first steps with
fedora. I am now using fedora and have also created Live DVD with
selected science packages for distributing it with ExpEYES. I am conducting
free-software awareness programs for science students and teachers in my
region.
With an objective to educate the science students and general public about
the benefits of using high quality FOSS in education and at home, we have
planned for a Fedora event to celebrate 'Software Freedom Day' in our city
Belgaum.
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Belgaum_SFD
I am requesting for your help in design of the banners, flyers and fedora
stickers for the event.
We need one banner on the main stage with a theme of "Software Freedom Day"
and separate banners for our Fedora Booth ( where we will be helping people
with fedora installation and distribution fedora stickers,
flyers,buttons,media disks etc...)
Kindly help me with the design of appropriate logo for stickers and fedora
flyers and banners.
Since this is the first fedora event we are organizing in our area, kindly
give us your suggestions to make it better.

Hi,
I'm a GSoC student from India working on the backend of GlitterGallery (I've sent across a few blog posts before, you might remember me :) ).
I'm trying to add my blog to Planet Fedora, but I don't have fedorapeople.org space yet as I'm not part of any non-CLA groups. I read the process of joining the designteam group at http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Join_the_Design_Team - I'm not a 'designer' per se, I'm a web developer. Would a list of my git commits suffice, rather than going through a task on the design list?
My username is 'rohitpaulk'
If there is anything else I need to do to get an invite, kindly let me know :)
Thanks!
Hi,
tomorrow ends the submission phase for the supplemental wallpaper for F21.
So if you want to submit there is still time left.
But I want to give a little overview on the status. There are good and bad
things, good things first.
*We have more participants - 44 awarded badges instead of 23 but with
lesser submissions
*We had people creating artwork especially for submitting it vector as
image manipulation
*We also had people this time submitting free licensed work of others
but now the bad things
* lesser submissions right now 81 submissions, 4 of them I had to reject.
Last time 117 - hope there will come some in but I dont think it will be 36
until tomorrow night
* more rejections then as before, it was clearly feelable that badge hunter
submitted something to get the badge, there was even copyrighted material
submitted
*lesser quality, the first submissions was so low level that I really lost
all believe, later people like Harald Hoyer submitted and now we should
have enough material for 16 good ones. On a lot the motiv is nice and it
would be great with just a little bit of work
this should be enough for an status overview
