Release artwork process
by Martin Sourada
Hi all,
based on a discussion in another thread, I've put together a skeleton
DRAFT of our new release artwork process [1] so that we have something
to work with. I was pretty brief with the wording, so it will probably
need an expansion. Feel free to add your comments/edits/... :-)
The ultimate goal is to get it finished and officially accepted sometime
around FUDCon so that we can start on next release using this new
process.
I think it would also be useful to also keep release specific sub-pages
with exact dates and perhaps a task list (can be a reference to a
milestone in our ticket system) included.

Design Team meetings on IRC?
by John Poelstra
Reading the other recent posts it seems there are a few unresolved
issues that we need to get rolling on for Fedora 12.
Does the Design Team have regular weekly meetings?
If not would it consider having them to discuss the schedule for Fedora
12 and resolve which approach will be used to design the artwork for
Fedora 12? I'd be willing to help organize and lead the meetings for
the first month to help get things off the ground.
Thanks,
John

Constantine
by Nicu Buculei
I am sure you are all already aware, the announcement is official since
yesterday when Paul delivered in in front of the FUDCon audience, the
release name for Fedora 12 was voted Constantine.
When I think about it, I had in my mind Byzantine culture (Roman emperor
Constantine the Great) and I think a graphic in the style of a Byzantine
mosaic can be an effective approach. The major trick is to leave out any
religious implications and stay only with cultural references.
Think of something like
http://www.flickr.com/photos/gauiscaecilius/2139332420/ but with some
modernist imagery and some blue.
It also can work like this
http://www.flickr.com/photos/gauiscaecilius/2140942774/ with the symbols
for our 4 foundations.
Get a better idea from those photos:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/gauiscaecilius/tags/mosaic/
I talked about this yesterday evening (night) with Mo and Paul and today
with Samuele (FUDCon is awesome for such things) and it seems the idea
hs some potential.

CMS (Zikula) kick-off
by John Poelstra
Hi,
I've volunteered to help kick off and facilitate the Fedora cross-team
CMS (Zicula) planning and implementation meetings. I think things will
work best if each team puts forth a representative. We will hold our
meetings on IRC or over Fedora Talk and they will be open to anyone, but
it will make it easier to schedule and coordinate the meetings if I know
who the key people from each team are.
I believe the key teams we need representatives from are: Documentation,
Design, and Marketing. Are there any others?
Once I know who the key people are I'll reach out to those people to
find a meeting time and day that works best. I'd like to get a response
by Thursday, June 25, 2009, so we can kick things off.
Thanks,
John

Re: [Design-team] Constantine
by brian hurren
here is a thought. Constantine is also a city, what about having an abstract of a city scape. here is a link to a photo of the city of Constantine
http://img61.imageshack.us/img61/6965/con5nd2.jpg
or we could do the aerial view of a city, looking down on it so that it fulls the screen. then it could represent connectivity and sharing, networking, what linux and Fedora a good at.
It would be an easy concept to abstract.

Re: [Design-team] Constantine
by Storari Samuele
Hi all,
I talked with Nicu about the Mosaic Theme at Fudcon just yesterday, and I think will be a good idea to work on.
Maybe not as a mosaic effect, but a mosaic "subject".
We can also think to an "Innovation Theme" cos Constantine the Emperor was the first to allow the Christian Religion all around the Roman Emp. so we can work on the innovation aspect and not on the religious side of the approach, maybe it will work.
So another idea we can work on is a "spiritual Focused theme", 'cause Constantine decide to allow the religion only before dyin'; and for SPIRITUAL I don't mean RELIGIOUS focused but something about the "Soul" and the Soul is common to every people in the world.
Maybe I can work on some other idea in those days so we can try to work on some little mockup.
Samuele

Lets not forget about bay leaves crow seem on most Roman emperors. Those
bay leaves could be subtle in background. As for mosaic, I think the
concept should not be too complex unless someone know to effectively
render them as wallpaper.

ok, now what?
by angella inzinga
OK, so I signed up for my first project of the queue. Now that I've got a
few starter ideas, very rough- mostly just testing image direction of the
people who need it. What now? Do we have a place to post images and direct
clients where to go? Or usually just attach to email to client and so on....
Thanks!!
