Hello everyone! My name is Nick and I'm here to help out in any way possible. I primarily have not that much Linux experience, but have a lot of experience with video production and would like to help out in any way I can. Please let me know anything it is I need to learn and some tasks that would help out. My goal is to help with the design team while I learn to program and then hopefully one day move over to the OS development team. Thanks!

Design help requested for Fedora test case web app

With the ARM moving to primary and essentially cloud achieving the same status (from a QA perspectice), we need a better way to track and display test results for each release. The current method (1) is a wiki page with a set of columns for each architecture and rows for test cases grouped by test case type. While this is easily expandable, it quickly becomes a less than optimal method to display and manage data. What Adam and I were discussing is a web app to do this. The problem is that neither of us are UI designers. We have some ideas as to how we want information displayed, queried, etc, but that's it. Sourcing supplemental wallpaper submissions from other sources.

The guidelines[1] for the supplemental wallpaper submissions state that you need permission from the author to submit the file. Does anyone know the reasoning for this? Does it also apply to images that are in the Public Domain? I ask because there are many many awesome images in places like the NASA image library that are public domain. These would be nice to source and include in the submissions. Do i need to contact NASA to see if their public domain images are okay for use as a Fedora wallpaper? cheers, ryanlerch

Announcing Design Software

Design software is a special interest group intended to package and maintain software for design team. It was born to fill the need to include design related tools unavailable in Fedora repository. The following mission is to - Maintain the Design group in the comps.xml, - Promote more the Design Suite, - Actively maintain design-related packages, - Tracking bugs and fix them when the main maintainer is inactive for a certain periods Design Software has FAS account named design-sw (Design Software in short). The mailing list is design-devel(a)lists.fedoraproject.org where the activity on maintaining packages occur. The bugzilla alias is DESIGN-SW for tracking review related to design packages and cc'ed to the design staff. The wiki is located to http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/SIGs/Design_Software with currently who active members. Members can be design team or packagers. At long term, Design Software will actively maintain the Design Suite based on latest version on Gnome Desktop, participate reporting some issue of development software packaged by some design team members and be close with upstream as possible. A thank you for Design Team for helping making this Special Interest Group a reality and the Infrastructure team for setting up the FAS account and the mailing list. Comments and feedback are welcome.

Hi, we had an meeting today for doing an brainstorm for F20. But it was not so productive as last time. Forming Design Team SIG

SIG stands for Special Interest Group[0]. As the title speaks itself, it is about forming a group specialized at maintaining packages related to Design. KDE, Scientific, Robotics, Fonts[1] groups have them so why not Design Team? The reasons are: - to list and track design related application not included in Fedora repository - to make like of packagers easier when one of them went missing or on vacation. - to consolidate all building in a single repository say design-team.fedorapeople.org where development version of main tools like Gimp, Inkscape, Scribus without disturbing the main repository similar to Ubuntu PPA - to gain more contact with upstream by helping them tracking bugs, improve their software and provide a guideline of writing a good spec file - Better interaction with Fonts and Desktop SIG. - to maintain the list of Design packages in comps.xml for users installing a different desktop environment i.e. KDE and such. Fedora 20 naming process delayed & Alpha consequences

Hi, due to bad communication, the deadline for F20 name was extended to this Friday but this means the decision will probably come too late for Design team to create artwork for Alpha and it's one of the blocking criterion. The idea is to have different artwork to the previous releases, so users are not confused what version they are running. http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Fedora_19_Alpha_Release_Criteria#Desktop_back… There are several options. 1) don't tie artwork on name and Design team can brainstorm a different one, still not much time left 2) use for Alpha some temporary solution different from F19 aka one of F19 supplementary wps etc... 3) less preferable - don't be so strict for Alpha due to limited time + issues with naming elections and apply this criterion for Beta... (I assume we are still in the beginning of artwork process) Jaroslav
