Fedora 17 Wallpaper - Concept Submission Period Closed
by Martin Sourada
Hi all,
yesterday (2011-12-27) was the deadline for concept submissions and now
we have entered the colorization phase. Deadline is 2012-1-17. Vote for
your favourite concept with work! I have updated the concept
submissions page [1] with all the submissions on artboard that I've
found. If I made a mistake anywhere feel free to correct it.
The colorization process
========================
Select a favourite concept(s) you want to support on wiki [1] a start
working towards making a wallpaper out of it - i.e. add colour, start
thinking big (the wallpaper will be on screens up to FullHD resolution
on wide screens and 2048x1536 on 4:3 screens) and collaborate with
others (ask for opinions, give opinions, combine your works,
don't forget to provide source for your work,...). Post your work on
artboard [2]. Don't forget to add tags f17, wallpaper and
@concept-name@ (e.g. monabeefa, boy-scout or fireworks). When you think
you're done, submit it to wiki [1].
Cheers,
Martin

F17 wallpaper concepts - Beefy Discover and Beefy Satisfaction
by Buddhike Kurera
Hello Design Team Folks,
I have drawn some F17 wallpaper sketches.
1. Beefy Discover
http://publictest04.fedoraproject.org/artboard/post/view/98
This is a concept drawing only. This is called as Beefy Discover, my idea
behind is a hot dog is rowing his bun as a boat to a island. Manning that
the fedora drives users to a land where he can survive. Beefy is lost in so
many OS exists but with the help of the right one, it discovers the land,
the miracle. So he is safe.
2. Beefy Satisfaction
http://publictest04.fedoraproject.org/artboard/post/view/97
This is a concept drawing only. This is called as Beefy Satisfaction, my
idea behind is beefy is resting with total satisfaction because he uses
fedora less troubles and it give satisfaction to him. So he is free and
enjoying the sunbath at the sea.
Both images needs color tone selection according to fedora colors gradients.
These images to imply the idea will improve it it seems good.
Thanks and looking forward for comments.

F17 Wallpaper sketches deadline reminder
by Martin Sourada
Hi fellow Fedorian artists,
I'd like to kindly remind all of you who are interested in helping in
creation the F17 wallpaper, that the first deadline is coming next
week:
2011-12-27 (Tuesday)—Sketches submission deadline.
So if you have a sketch you haven't submitted yet, it would be
good to do it ASAP.
Also, could we possibly hold an IRC meeting next Tuesday (the date when
is the sketches deadline) to see what's in store and decide on next
steps? Is UTC 20:00 good for anyone interested?
Cheers,
Martin

Ransom Notes Brainstorming
by Chris Beiser
I've been sporadically working on Ransom Notes, which are basically banners
for the 'captive' audience of the installer, for a few months now. (For
more information on the Ransom Note concept, look here:
http://blog.linuxgrrl.com/2011/09/16/fedora-design-bounty-installer-ranso...)
Sketches and iterated concepts can be seen at the Ransom Note page,
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Anaconda/UX_Redesign/Ransom_Notes, but
because a lot of the initial ideas can't be implemented without significant
implementation difficulty (As I understand it, we don't know what desktop
environment the user is using. If I'm mistaken, and this is in fact easily
dealt with, I'd love to know.) only a few of them have been eligible for
refinement and ultimately, inclusion in F17. Therefore, we're looking for
you to share any ideas on what we should show users while they install.
Chris Beiser.

Default Theme Thoughts
by Ryan Gauger
Design team,
We do many things, one of the many things we do is create and choose the default wallpapers for the next release of Fedora. I thought (thinking about Ubuntu) that it would be really cool for Fedora to have its own default theme, possibly keeping the default GNOME theme as an option, but using the default Fedora theme by default. In my opinion, it would be really cool for Fedora to have its own unique theme that maybe, possibly changes every three or four releases, making small, supplemental changes. This way, when a Linux user looks at the Fedora desktop without the wallpaper giving it away, that user would know right away that that computer was running Fedora. Again, not really needed, but would be really nice, possibly very fun to create the themes too. Now, I will shut up since I have no clue as to how to make a theme, but there is probably at least one person in this team who does know how to make themes. Might be, also might not be a good idea. Thanks!!!
