[APAC] Poll about Rootconf 2016 budget
by P J P
Hello,
So far Red Hat has been a sponsor at an yearly 'Rootconf'
conference in Bangalore, India.But this year they could
not accommodate it into budget.
Please see:
-> https://rootconf.in/2016/
We(Fedora) has an allocated ~300/- USD budget for this event.
-> https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FAD_Singapore_2015/Events
I spoke to the event organizers for having a Fedora booth at Rootconf,
they are looking for about Rs 50,000/-(=~ 750 USD) for a booth.
This means, we _may not_ have budget for any travel subsidies for attendees.
I was wondering if it'd be possible for us to raise our allocated(USD 300/-)
budget by some margin? Maybe around ~500 USD?
I'm negotiating with the organizers and also trying to find out if we could
raise the balance amount in anyway.
We need confirmations from APAC(non-India) ambassadors to raise our
allocated Fedora budget for the Rootconf 2016.
If it's okay with you, please vote for the same here.
Thank you.

The links you shared to Athabasca University's pages were awesome to
read about. :) These are exactly the kinds of things I think we as a
community should be supporting and helping grow.
I completely agree with the points you mentioned. However, when it comes
to finding ways to deploy and implement this in schools, I'm definitely
not an expert nor will I act like I am. Perhaps Remy could chime in on
this specifically because it definitely is within his realm of expertise
from his time at RIT.
I think this thread in itself could make a good topic for the next
CommOps meeting!
