[Event] JM2L Report
by Charles-Antoine Couret
Hi everybody,
The 25th November, in Sophia-Antipolis (France, close to Nice), Nicolas
Chauvet and me went to JM2L event (https://jm2l.linux-azur.org/). It is
a popular local event, which happens every two years now. Usually,
around 150-300 people come there during a day to visit stand, to follow
conferences or workshops. We represented Fedora over Borsallinux-fr
(French association) stand.
Around 15 people come to ask some information or just discuss about
Fedora. Some of them are long term users, for many years and very happy
about Fedora. My conference about contributions of Fedora Workstation to
Free Software was followed by 15 people and very appreciated. I will
publish an article to sum up the conference topic (in French) on some
related websites.
The media coverage was pretty good. France 3 Côte d'Azur (a local TV
channel) interviewed me about business model of Free Software and it is
available on their website:
https://france3-regions.francetvinfo.fr/provence-alpes-cote-d-azur/emissi...
(25/11/17 edition). I am not a Red Hat employee, it is an error from
journalist. Similar coverage on local press (Nice Matin, no copy
available).
We fill a page on the wiki about this event:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Journ%C3%A9es_M%C3%A9diterran%C3%A9ennes_d...
If you have any question about it, do not hesitate.
Regards,

Hey Shubhendra,
It's great to see Fedora Install Fest happening across India and thanks for being a
part of the group to organize one such event. I would like to point out that as events
are mostly a part of CommOps you can ping Sachin Kamath or Justin Flory who can help you
with a +1 for their group and you can create/edit an wiki page. I will personally write
an email to both of these guys cc'ing you so that you get the access to the earliest.
For the Resources, I am working on a wiki page which can be used a template by any organizer
to host Install Fest and the point they need to take into account while they do that.
About swags, we are in process to having them in sometime. You can sign in with your FAS
create an issue in https://pagure.io/ambassadors-apac/issues/ put in the subject line
[Swags]Install Fest <Location> <YYYY-MM-DD>.
The template is fairly simple:https://pagure.io/ambassadors-apac/issues/
FAS Name:
Event Name:
Event Wiki:
Swags:
Additional Info:
Now, I totally understand you dont have access to create wiki but you can just draft it on
an etherpad [https://public.etherpad-mozilla.org/]. It will be nice to keep the name same as
the event name so the link will turn out to be https://public.etherpad-mozilla.org/p/<event_name>
we have Fedora APAC Ambassdor meeting which is a
bi-weekly meeting. This is where we vote on the open tickets and bring them to closure.
You can also attend the upcoming one, its always open for everyone.
For Fedora Ambassdor, you it's best to seek guidance from Sankarshan. He might help you to understand
the roles and goals of the program better.
Thanks

share accomodation at DevConf
by jiannis bonatakis
maybe a lit late notice but I would like to know if someone who is going to
the DevConf wants to share accommodation. I know that many of you already
have approved for expenses etc. So I need to know if everyone has been
settled before any further action.

Call for participation: FOSDEM 2018
by Zacharias Mitzelos
Hello everyone,
FOSDEM, the biggest free and non-commercial event organized by and for
the community in Europe, is just 2 months away. Our request for a booth
hasn't been officially approved yet, however, we can safely start
preparing for FOSDEM 2018!
Like every year, we will have a booth and we need at least 6 people to
stay at the booth and do "booth duty" throughout the day. Contributors
that will either represent Fedora at the booth, or organize a
Fedora-related talk, may get sponsored. This year sponsored contributors
are also expected to assist in the distributions devroom (help Intro
speakers, keep time, check equipment etc) some hours during the two days
of the conference. Sponsored contributors are expected to stay X hours
at the booth and in the devroom (more on that later). If you would like
to request funding, add your name in the wiki and open a funding
request, so we can discuss all the requests in the upcoming meetings.
Are you coming to FOSDEM this year? Add your name to the list, so that
we know what Fedorians will be there:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FOSDEM_2018
Cheers,
Zach
