Hai there, I have good news and maybe bad news. Its Still fresh. First as long awaited here in Strasbourg, France there will be an "open source" day http://strasbourg.linuxfr.org/jl4/index on the 23-25 June 2006. This event will be intended as I mentioned in http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FedoraEvents to promote open source softwares and linux. If somebody is motivated to make a conference about fedora, do inform me. Hence you will become the guest of our lug. We ( the lug members ) are looking forward to invite lecturers and to pay their journey and hotel too. This needs to be confirmed. The money required to host the lecturers will be from either paid entrance or companies paying for the booth. to rent a booth for fedora, we have to pay. Price will be communicated later. There are also talks about free booth for associations. But nothing yet confirmed. Its possible to sell Fedora t-shirts or other goodies for fund raising. But in this case, we must rent a booth for Fedora. Now comes the "maybe" bad news: this scheduled date for the event interfere badly with two of MY private life things: 1. I have already booked two tickets (my gf and I) to Mauritius. 2. my contract with the hostel ends in the beginning of June and somebody will be occupying my actual room. so meanwhile send your comments, queries or any other proposals :) regards, Chitlesh GOORAH -- http://clunixchit.blogspot.com

Well, We are working to get together the First Annual Demofest for Linux for Cincinnati, Ohio. We are trying to make contact with any other LUGs in our area to join in the fun. It is looking like September 23, though nothing is firm yet. It is hard to guess how many will come as we have not done this before. I have looked on the Ambassador Wiki for ideas and found some. Does anyone have other ideas for getting groups / companies to come and join in this one day event? Once we have a venue, I thought I might try putting out an email to all the companies that I can find that use Linux in this area and invite them to demo their software. They can also use this as a potential chance to recruit Linux people, if they need any. Is it proper to put up a collection box for covering costs? No tickets just limiting the number inside to the Fire Department limit. I expect that it will be located in a public library basement meeting area which will hold about 200 people. That would require the free aspect of the DemoFest. I am trying to get a local branch of Barnes & Nobel to set up a Linux book store for the event. Sort of iffy at the moment. Hi, I'm writing to ask you if anybody is going to LinuxWorld on 21th June in Warsaw? I'm not sure yet, but if somebody from Ambassadors gonna there, I'm almost sure I also would be ;) I've just sent an e-mail to person responsible one of the event's organizers and asked if it would be possible to have a presentation on Fedora during the event, or have a booth for promoting Fedora. Hi guys, I have something in mind here. I want to create a repository in Brazil only with packages created here in Portuguese_BR. The main idea is to have a centralized webpage with information and softwares created in Brazil for Fedora Users (always .rpm files) for home users and companies. This way companies can find softwares needed for them to be used at home and in companies. In this last event we heard a lot of complaning because the users didn't find solutions to implement in their companies. With this webpage we can recruit developers do create softwares for companies and for home users and distribute them as GPL. I want to call it Fedora-Extras-BR, it this ok? Hi There was some discussions earlier on enabling ambassadors to keep track of news and announcements related to the Fedora Project easily. Fedora announce list has been changed now into being a low track important announcements only list while the other package updates go into a separate list. I would like every ambassadors to subscribe to the fedora announce list and will be moving forward to make this a requirement for all the ambassadors in the near future.
