Hi, Does Fedora or Red Hat have any plans to have some kind of exhibit for CES 2013? http://www.cesweb.org/ I missed the free registration, but I'll be attending anyway. I think it would be good to have an exhibit there. Thanks, Dan

Next FUDCon in APAC - Change of Process?

Hello folks, We have started the discussion for the next FUDCon in APAC since it is always good to plan soon. This year (2012) we had two candidates, they did lot of work and but finally one country has elected/ selected to host the event. In that time we were discussing to eliminate the bidding or make it simple. Since the effort is total waste in some way. Therefore I think if there is change of process we need to discuss it now and get it fixed before starting who host next FUDCon. I think it is good to decide the region itself who will be the next host if there are candidates more than one. What I propose is as follow; We can identified interested countries first, then we can discuss on the bi-weekly meeting which is the best area to host the event. Yes if we need more info to decide then we can ask the teams to have them on a wiki page like who are the organizing team and so on. ....... Then considering every aspect we can come to a conclusion avoiding all the hard work and competition. I dont like going for a election and voting. i think we need to discuss more and pick the best place because we need to **spread the project with in the region** and that is the only goal behind. Therefore without voting it is possible to discuss with team and come to an mutual agreement through mutual understanding and so that way we can select the next host with no disappointing. I cannot guarantee that this method will work 100% but will give a try and see. But this is how I see, I know you all have more ideas please do share them, this is just a suggestion to consider. Effective SWAG distribution/ management with in APAC

Hello Folks, In May the F18, FAmSCo term has started which I was a member. Now it is almost 4 months has gone and around 2 months to go for the release F18. There was two goals[1] at the beginning, one was to improve the SWAG production and distribution with in the APAC region and the next was to facilitate and represent fellow FAms in much efficient way. (donno what you think ) I do believe that I will providing better representation and facilitating for the FAms from APAC. However I am still working on the first goal which is hard to achieve, but I ll be doing my best. The plan I have came with so far is as follows. Currently there are 18 countries with in the APAC region. Australia Bangladesh China Hong Kong India Indonesia Japan Malaysia Myanmar Nepal New Zealand Pakistan Philippines Singapore Sri Lanka Taiwan Thailand Vietnam (excluding following countries since they are almost dealing with EMEA Cyprus, Jordan, Saudi Arabia) With in the region there are diversity of the tax and shipping overheads therefore “Distributing through a central point” is not the best strategy for APAC. However my plan is to produce SWAGs in bulk and distribute them in a central point which is the FUDCon in the region holding yearly. Since most of the FAms from most of the countries in the region, are participating I think that would be feasible. So once a year SWAGs (such as stickers, buttons, straps ….) will be produced and distributed via the FUDCon. In APAC the scenario is totally different than NA or EMEA since the countries are largely seperated geographically. Therefore local production would be the best possible alternative. However FUDCon is used as the central point as all the FAms are gathering yearly. It is better to produce media themselves locally. I think that would be the best possible way to address the tax and shipping costs. In such case it is possible to open a ticket on the fedora-apac trac[2] and move for the production. Since the revised “Reimbursement Guideline” is in effective[3] there would not be much difficulties. Comments and suggestions are welcome. Planning for the next SWAG production will start soon. swag for emea - call for quotes

Hi, as we discussed at the last EMEA ambassadors meeting: we have moved from the "come up with ideas" phase to the "submit quotes and make it happen" phase. So if you want something to be produced, don't only suggest it, go for it, find a vendor, get quotes, and propose them. I'm going to have some Fedora swag produced for our office and I can also produce swag for Fedora EMEA. Here are my proposals: Baseball caps: cap - €2 (for example: http://www.excursion.sk/detail/103544 or any other cap in their selection) front needlework - €0.7 back needlework - €0.4 total: €3.1 Mugs (http://www.excursion.sk/detail/986578) with artwork baked in the glazing: €0.8125 Rollerball pens: pen - €0.25 (e.g. http://www.excursion.sk/detail/261174) two-colour print - €0.1287 total: €0.3787 We can of course produce anything they have in the store.
