Let's equip our Communities in EMEA

Hello everyone, during the last EMEA irc meeting, I proposed that we should make sure all active communities within our region are equipped with basic booth equipment such as roll-up banners and tableclothes. Currently, there is just one or two tableclothes for the whole region. Not every community has its own roll-up banners and while some do, these are not anymore in a proper working condition (e.g. colors have started fading out, stands are showing signs of heavy use). Spending budget on such an initiative can be considered a good investment, since the equipment produced will last for years and will enable our communities to look overall more professional when representing the project during events and conferences. We still have a significant amount of the current fiscal year's budget unspent and we can definitely use some of it. Does your community lack some booth equipment? OSCON 16

Yeesh, this is expensive. The booth cost alone is ... well, it's like airfare for three or four contributors from the west coast US or LATAM to Flock, or twice that many from the east coast or APAC. I know this is a big, high-profile conference, but... is it worth it? What do we get out of it? BrickHack 2016 updates + input needed

Hey all, BrickHack is steadily coming closer and we're working on finalizing all preparations for attending. I'll do a quick summary of what has already happened and where we need more input! https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/RIT_BrickHack/2016 A lot of new changes are on the wiki too, but these changes are summarized below. = What's new = * BrickHack 2016 Attendee badge * https://badges.fedoraproject.org/badge/brickhack-2016-attendee * BrickHack 2016 Open Source Winner badge * https://fedorahosted.org/fedora-badges/ticket/428 * Deadline to confirm participation as an Ambassador has passed * Full event schedule is published (on the wiki page) * Prize pool ideas added (details further below) * Updated costs for the event budget * Deadline to finalize category details on Saturday, 2016-02-27 = What we need = Fedora will be the Open Source category sponsor for BrickHack 2016. As a result, we are in charge of determining category rules and guidelines, as well as coming with prizes. The amount for prizes we are holding for is around $250 USD. We are trying to come up with a few different FOSS-oriented prizes to give to winners in the category. We have things like Raspberry Pis, MakeyMakey kits, and free Bluehost VPS hosting plans on there now. However, I was told that another sponsor last year had a table where they were just handing out Pis for little to nothing… so coming up with some other unique prizes may be a good idea. Even if you are not from FAmNA, I would appreciate hearing what some other Ambassadors think about prizes or what we could do to appeal to a large number of university students to participate in the Open Source category.
