EVENT REPORT: Linux Demo Day, Charleston, SC
by David Nalley
I traveled to Charleston, SC this morning to represent Fedora at the
Linux Demo Day put on by Charleston SC LUG.
I arrived just after noon and they had a table setup for me. I put
media, business cards, my laptop setup with an xguest account, and an
OLPC XO. The event was geared at people who weren't familiar with
Linux. About 60 people showed up. Charleston's LUG is relatively new,
and this was their first event. They seemed very pleased. I handed
about 30 LiveCDs out and talked with a number of Fedora. In addition I
spoke to 2-3 people who were intrigued with contributing to Fedora in
one way or another. I'll be following up with these individuals.

Announcing "New Ambassadors Policy" updates
by Francesco Ugolini
Following Joerg Simon, the most active Ambassadors Membership
Administrator, proposal, FAmSCo is announcing an update to the "New
Ambassadors Policy".
According to Joerg email the goals of this update are "to enhance the
Quality of New Members experience" and "reduce Introduction Traffic to
Ambassador List". FAmSCo, after reviewing all the reasons behind this
proposal, agreed to adopt these modifications.
Process to become an Ambassador in FAS (Fedora Account System):
1. In the Beginning NO SPONSORING! He gets a Message from Ambassador
Membership Service with all the steps including this Imperative Steps:
2. has to subscribe to M-L - (no Intro this is a low traffic list ...
in the message)
3. has to make a meaningful Personal WikiPage with his intentions and
Introduction
4. has to send a "ready" message with a Link to the Wiki Page to
Ambassador Membership Service
5. Ambassador Membership Service collect and report to Famsco
periodically for approval of the new potential Ambassador.
6. SPONSORED by Ambassador Membership Service
7. Mail to Ambassador List with Wiki Links of new Members
This updates will take effects starting from 2008/09/15 (this Monday).
I'm sure New Ambassadors and the Project itself will benefit from
these updates.
About Ambassadors Membership Administrators (AMA)
AMA group is composed by Ambassadors and it's supervised by FAmSCo. It
has to accept new Ambassadors and give them the first informations
about the project and the action to do to became an Ambassador.

Padula and supervised by FAmSCo chair. If you have

by wonderer
Hy there,
I have a question mostly for the german guys around here. On request of
Gerold I try to plan a straight small Demopoint for the Fedoraproject
and OLPC on the systems 2008 in Munich end this month. Does someone have
time to help here?
More infos about the systems itself could be found at http://systems.de/
. There is no budget so far, therefore its more for the people around
Munich or wich can come on there own.
Anybody who is interressted please write me a quick, short notice for
further planning.
best regards

Introduction
by Felix Kaechele
Hello Everyone!
My name is Felix Kaechele, I was born and still live in Germany though
i'm half Canadian. I'm currently 18 Years of age and still visit the
local Gymnasium (our German equivalent to high school) where I manage
all of the 150 computers including 3 servers (One Gentoo, one NetWare
and of course: one Fedora) as well as the networking infrastructure
(that is: ethernet and wifi).
I joined the Ambassadors because I think I can help to spread the word
and convince people to free themselves from proprietary software.
You can also visit my Fedora WikiPage at
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/User:Heffer for (more) Information.
That's all for now. If you have any questions please feel free to
contact me. Maybe I'll see some of you at FADEMEA 2008 in Basel.
Cheers,
Felix

¡Announcing Fedora Colombia!
by Diego Escobar
English:
Hi all:
I am pleased to introduce a new website Fedora, the first official in
Colombia for Fedora Project and one more for "Proyecto Fedora"
Latinoamerica, as a part of our commitment to spread Fedora on
latinoamerican and spanish speakers communities.
Thanks to all Fedora Community, to latinoamerican people and a special
mention for Juan Rodriguez (Nushio) from Fedora Mexico who does a great
job administrating Proyecto Fedora infraestructure.
This is my first "official" contribution to send the Fedora´s message to the
world, and I hope from this humble beginning, that Fedora Colombia not only
is a meeting point for colombian fedora´s users else for latinoamerican
people and contribute - of course - with much more to Fedora Project.
You can see it on: http://proyectofedora.org/colombia

Fedora Release 9 (Sulphur): Linux Kernel 2.6.25 + Gnome 2.22
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Saludos!
