I agree, but I admit I've been looking for a quick fix that could also go to sssd-1-11. Would you mind opening a ticket to either refactor the AD search request to return a special code (like sdap_errno elsewhere) or do some other sensible detection instead?

I think such patch could be considered for master or even 1.11.6 perhaps, but right now I wanted to fix the failing lookup.
