Btw, `posix_fallocate` can return `EINTR` but perhaps handling this would be too nitpicky

I would handle it, it's not hard, and can really happen on busy systems. Not handling
it can lead to heisenbugs that are hard to figure out later.
If handling is too hard then a log should be emitted that allows to understand the nature
of the failure.
