aren't advertised on our website really and when doing an install with

Again, I'd like to bring up the importance of "it just
works" out of
the box. Gnome 3 doesn't really do that well out of the box currently
IMO.
So how to you reconcile "it just works" with forcing the user to
decide between mutliple desktop choices?
If you want it to just work, then you need to make a decision as to
what to make work.
As much as I dislike GNOME 3 (I install Cinnamon myself as soon as
install is finished), having GNOME 3 as a default is better than
making no decision at all.
