I bet the first question people will ask is:
"But how do I turn them back on? I LOVE THE MENU ICONS SO MUCH!"
So probably this will need a release note that explains how to turn it
back on if desired. I'm guessing that's:
System->Preferences->Appearance, Interface tab, "Show icons in menus"

Yes, that is right.
There is no checkbox for the button icons right now, but there are gconf
keys for both:
/desktop/gnome/interface/buttons_have_icons
/desktop/gnome/interface/menus_have_icons
I will see if I can get that into the release notes.
