dd itself should be really the last resort we should use more user
friendly tools (we have them
in gnome-disk-utilty for instance) ... dd is pretty dangerous if you
get the device name wrong (sdb instead of sdc or something) ... boom.
I meant a tool that just writes the image file, dd-style. Not literally
dd itself. If you read the wiki page, dd is suitably buried (except for
OS X, where it's all we've got.)
