One trick that is useful to know when dealing with the inadvertent
oversized dialog is that metacity lets you move a window even when you
can't see the titlebar, via Alt-F7 or Alt-Button1.
At one point, this would not let you move the titlebar off the top of
the screen. I haven't tried with metacity lately; it's certainly true
with compiz.
