I recently after many arguments with my manager installed Fedora 14 in my office [ A full windoz house, some of the guys in IT dept not even heard of Thunderbird ] desktop and one of the best feedback that i got for it [Fedora] from one of my colleague goes like this.
" are itna sahi UI aa gaya hai kya linux me....."
Seems like we can add some thing like a "Great UI" to the publicity material, since it seems that people common still have the same image of the 'KAALI DUNIYA' the SHELLS when talking about linux.
Thanks Saurabh Sharma

Perhaps it would be asking too much but with this sentiment it may be a good idea to hold a small informal "showing off Fedora" kind of event with your colleagues and writing it up. Asking them how they use their desktops at home and then assessing whether they could do the same with a Fedora desktop would help both the projects and your colleagues to adopt a Linux desktop at home.

Till now 2 guys have asked for the installation media [ i'm in talks with one more still telling the benefits], though i've kept a back foot since the build that i'm having is a Beta. So waiting for the final roll-out and then handover the same to them.
@Saurabh ! Linux has come a long way from the days of "Kali Duniya" :-)

I think the new design of http://fedoraproject.org is a step towards showing off the features including the user interface quite prominently. The publicity material for Fedora releases are community generated. This includes slides, one page release notes, announcements etc. If you want to take part in it, you are very welcome to do via the marketing project.

We produce a number of documentation and promotional material every release. We do feature stories that cover particular features including interviews with the developers responsible for driving those particular features. Refer to http://press.redhat.com/category/fedora/ to look at what we have done for Fedora 14 release. These are often written by community volunteers and Red Hat marketing publishes them to reach out to the press. Then there is the announcement at https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Fedora_14_announcement and one page release notes at http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/F14_one_page_release_notes. Several full length guide are updated for every release and available at http://docs.fedoraproject.org and we also discuss website changes from time to time in the websites list. If you are interested in participating in documentation, marketing or web design, join the appropriate team and there is more than enough things to get started with.

Rahul, i'm a QA by profession and have been putting in my efforts/skills in the Fedora for the same group. Also i do have little bit knowledge of web so can take up the web-design part. will take a look.

Yes, I noticed and I thank you for that. It is a important effort with a renewed focus from the project and things like proventesters are crucial to our success going forward. I think, one thing you can do is to aggregate your blog in Planet Fedora and talk about your experiences in participating, be it positive or negative. That will help us fine tune the processes to help drive more participation and bring some more visibility to an area that many people don't seem to be aware that they have a opportunity.
