Fedora 14 media replication
by Rahul Sundaram
Hi
Can anyone inquire what is the cost of mass media replication (plus
labelling etc) in Bangalore? At some point, the rates for per DVD would
fall. If anyone can provide a few contact numbers, I wouldn't mind
calling up and asking the details. It would be useful for foss.in and
other local events.

Fedora on OLPC hardware
by Arun SAG
Hi,
I have got 20 OLPC's with me. My task is to create and install a
distribution that has XFCE+Sugar on it. Is it possible to run Fedora on OLPC
XO hardware? Is there any spin available in Fedora that could do the job?

How to override RPM macro
by Lakshmipathi.G
Hi -
I'm trying this for almost 4 hrs now - Still not getting it.
I need to override the rpm macro _sbindir from /usr/sbin something like
"/opt/sbin" (I don't want to override default prefix "/usr" )
I tried adding it in ~/macro or editing /usr/lib/rpm/macro - nothing seems
to work for me.
not even from command line -
#rpm --define '_sbindir /opt'
# rpm --eval '%_sbindir'
/usr/sbin
Thanks for any help.

Panel Font Color
by Sawrub
Hi All,
After a bit of googling i found that in order to change the font color
of the panel text, i need to add a small piece of code to the
'.gtkrc-2.0' file under my home directory.
<code in .gtkrc-2.0>
style "panel"
{
fg[NORMAL] = "#ffffff"
}
widget "*PanelWidget*" style "panel"
widget "*PanelApplet*" style "panel"
class "*Panel*" style "panel"
widget_class "*Mail*" style "panel"
class "*notif*" style "panel"
class "*Notif*" style "panel"
class "*Tray*" style "panel"
class "*tray*" style "panel"
</code in .gtkrc-2.0'>
Did same and it also solved my problem but introduced another. The right
click on clock or thrash and couple of other panel applets now show a
menu with text in white font [my selected font color] with white
background, which makes reading the menu impossible. The other menu's a
re just fine except the mentioned. Its only when i hover the mouse on
the list item, that the list item is readable since then the background
changes to blue.
Please help me in solving the issue. I've attached the screen-shot in
case of Trash.

FOSS.IN 2010 Retrospective
by Rahul Sundaram
Hi
We have a tradional post even period for suggestions/feedback on what we
did right and what we could improve upon either individually or as a
team. Although FOSS.IN team has announced that they aren't continuing
the event, the feedback is important for us to organize ourselves better
for other events as well. So I am looking forward to any feedback from
participants. The one thing that immediately comes to mind is that, we
were asked for x86_64 media for a number of users, much more than any
other event that I have seen. So it does appear x86_64 has gone
mainstream now and we need to do media for both architectures going
forward with more x86 media still. We probably could have used more
keychains and buttons as they were way too popular as usual.
Let me know your thoughts if you were part of the Fedora team attending
foss.in or even just a participant who attended a session in the mini
conf, main conf , booth or something else. The feedback can range from
anything about the choice of hotel, logistics, talks and everything in
between.

XChat - copy with mouse right click
by Saleem Ansari
Regarding:
XChat 2.8.8 - A multiplatform IRC Client
Linux 2.6.35.9-64.fc14.x86_64 [x86_64/800.50MHz/SMP]
Charset: UTF-8 Renderer: Pango
Compiled: Dec 10 2010
When using XChat, I can't copy selected text using mouse right click
in the chat window ( where all the conversations scroll up ). The
whole menu ( which is the XChat main menu on top ) just pops
up again when I right click.
I would consider it as a usability issue. Most of the GUI applications
that I use on my desktop ( be it GNOME or KDE ), support copy with
right click, on selecting "Copy" menu item.
Since its a pretty obvious behaviour, I want to know if anyone has had
this thought earlier. Is this already fixed in some version of XChat?
I can however use Ctrl+C key combination after selecting the text to
be copied.
