What is a hackathon/hackfest?
by Kushal Das
>From [1]: A hackathon (also known as a hack day, hackfest or codefest)
is an event in which computer programmers and others involved in
software development, including graphic designers, interface designers
and project managers, collaborate intensively on software projects.
You will find a lot of misuse of this term. But please remember the
actual meaning. Just teaching someone a tool (say git/video
editor/vim), or writing few lines example HTML is *not* a hackathon/hackfest.

by Mayur Patil
Hi All,
Currently I am proposing a topic for Hackfest on "Contributing to open
source", what should be pre-requisite like:
1. Duration: in hours
2. No of Candidates: should expected
etc.
I got fair idea from FUDCON site:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FUDCon_hackfest but not clear enough to

Re: [fedora-india] About details of submitting Sessions
by Mayur Patil
Hi Pravin,
Thanks for the information and quick reply.
I also want to ask that:
1) As I am going to take kernel related session, is it feasible to use
Virtualbox/VMWare Player on Linux or on Windows in which i will give hands
on?
In most of cases that I have seen for Kernel Compilation related
activities chances of things go wrong (system crash, unable to boot).
2) Is it permissible to use distro other than Fedora i.e. I am having
CentOS installed as Dual boot with windows?
Like this:
Host OS: CentOS 6.x/ Windows
Application S/W: Virtualbox/VMWare Player
Guest OS: Fedora 21 or latest one.
Please guide me,
Thanks !!

FUDCon outreach - your chance to contribute!
by Amit Shah
Hey there,
We need to reach out with our message of the CfP to various LUGs /
mailing lists / institutions / communities that we think can benefit
FUDCon by their attendance and speaker slots.
There's an initial list compiled at
http://piratepad.net/FudCon-outreach-list
I'm sure you can think of more names to add to the list.
Also, we need to actually reach out to those communities.
The email should be based on this template; you can even just
copy/paste the entire text:
https://lists.fedoraproject.org/pipermail/india/2015-February/005741.html
If you're interested in sending out an email to these communities, add
your name against the name of the community (so we don't duplicate our
outreach), then send the mail, and then update the line with a [done]
tag.
It's simple and easy to contribute and help making FUDCon India a
success!
Amit
