Hi
Can anyone inquire what is the cost of mass media replication (plus labelling etc) in Bangalore? At some point, the rates for per DVD would fall. If anyone can provide a few contact numbers, I wouldn't mind calling up and asking the details. It would be useful for foss.in and other local events.

Hi Rahul,
Rangeen already has details since he got it done for a few of us last cycle. Would it would be a good idea to get media for foss.in + ambassadors together, since it would increase numbers and *should* decrease prices?

Media for FOSS.IN/2010 is always a great idea. Registrations are pouring in, attendance should be good so plan accordingly.

Since you are here, can you let me know what I should do to apply for a Fedora booth? Do we have those this year?

Unless you have the money and want to pay for it, we will give you space as part of the FOSS Expo. Stalls will be announced within the next few days. This year we shall give even the FOSS expo stalls like all other sponsors as we have done in the past. Last year we thought FOSS tables would be fun, but it was mixed bag!

http://moserbaer.com/contactus_offices.asp They usually ship everywhere. If you hurry you can get it done and delivered at BLR by the time. Thanks.

Last time it was around 17 INR for burning and labelling a DVD. If we have around 250 or 300 then it could come down to 15 INR.

A couple of things to note here:
- media, when mass produced is either spindle-in-a-box or, individual media in sleeve - the latter is generally more expensive per piece than the former - the SiaB is handy for install events but not very handy for events where hand-outs happen - the individual pieces are a bit of a hassle transporting whereas SiaBs can be shipped within boxes
The last time we did produce media from MoserBaer it was around 11 INR a piece in SiaB format. The sweet spot of prices is around 1500 pieces of media.
It worked out simpler to get them shipped to the PNQ office of Red Hat than get them to ship out various units to different locations.

We usually get SiaB shipped to us and buy sleeves separately. At the event venue just before the handout takes place, our volunteers pack the media from the spindle in the sleeve. This resolves the shipping issues from the media manufacturer to us as well as we get to give out some media with the sleeves. I think we can use the same procedure for foss.in and other events too.

Can you ask the contact you have to send me a quotation with the unit/price slabs? I have inquired in Mumbai, getting a quote tom from Pune and can compare rates. I would prefer producing locally in Bangalore for foss.in if the rates are the same. It's more convenient if I don't have to wait for transit time.

Hello,
I've just gotten to Bangalore a few days back. Is there any media left over from foss.in that I could have please?
Thanks, regards. Ankur
