While talking to one of the package maintainers,
this feedback came up.

But I fear that the skills necessary to mantain the packages
are too high and the overall system too complicated to attract
many new packagers. I asked many time for help and always
gratefully accepted every request for co-mantaining. I also
tried to teach to various people in my lab and in others how to
do that and they invariably got scared and back off.
Just wanted to share here, as many here may have faced similar issues
while grooming new contributors.
It'll help if you could share anyways you've found to keep new
contributors from being scared.
