If you're using a recent version of RHQ, you can go to the resource
browser ("/rhq/inventory/browseResources.xhtml?subtab=all") and enter
the following search:
type=Linux | type=Windows
You can then save this search pattern by clicking on the star icon on
the far-right of the SearchBar. For more information on the new search
facilities within RHQ, see

Here are a couple ways to create one that contains all platforms:
resource.type.category = PLATFORM
or:
empty.resource.parent.id
If you want only Linux and Windows platforms, you could use:
resource.type.category = PLATFORM
resource.type.name.contains = in
This looks a bit silly, but it's all I can think of, since I don't
think the expression language supports ORs/unions, so you can't do
something like "resource.type.name.contains = Linux ||
resource.type.name.contains = Windows".
