monitoring open http sessions on a jboss server
by Attila Heidrich
Hi,
is there a way to monitor the open sessions of a jboss server?
I see I have some metrics for the http connector, and the requests per
second value is really useful, but we need some more detailed statistics.
It would be the best to have some browser to select the parameters... ;)
for webapp dveelopers it would be such a great benefit!
Afaik, there're some internal values in the jboss server, should I extend
the JBoss plugin to get a value, which isn't got now?

Rhq over limited ports
by Kevin MacPherson
We are setting up a new internal testing datacenter and my network guys want to use a virtual IP address for the rhq server and limit the amount of open ports on VIP as we use it for various services. The problem we are having is that communication from the agent to the server and the server to the agent are initiated from random ports to the bound ports so the return traffic is not getting sent through. Is there anyway to force the server and agents to use specific ports?

WildFly AS and Product Type problem
by Domenico Briganti
Hi All,
I just installed RHQ 4.11 on a linux box (CentOS 6.5) where I previous
installed WildFly 8.0.0.Final.
The RHQ Agent recognize the WildFly instance (also if it appears under
JBossAS7 Standalone Servers), but when I update the password of the
management user in Connection Settings of RHQ, the agent complains that:
The original product type discovered for this server was WildFly, but
the server is now reporting its product type is [AS]
I tryed also with WildFly 8.1.0.CR1, same result.
In Connection Setting I see Product Type WILDFLY8 (ReadOnly).
I miss anything?
Thank you,
Domenico

Fwd: RHQ strange graphs
by John Mazzitelli
Forwarding to the RHQ users list - please send any questions to either the mailing list or the forums, rather than direct emails. Mailing Lists/Forum posts will get to the right people which, in this case, is not me :) I know nothing about the graphs - but Mike does :)
Mike - possible bug in the graphs due to bad units conversion?

Subject: RHQ strange graphs
Hi
Firstly I want to thank you for your work !
Then, I would like to report what seems to be a bug in RHQ for Jboss :
If I monitor the java heap space of my instances and the heap switch from Mo to Go the graphs display non sense :
[cid:image001.png@01CF6AD8.C2863810]
Do you how the graph looks flat between 12 PM and 03 PM? Weel... It's because the heap it's at 1.5 to 2 Go which is displayed at 1.5 to 2 Mo. If I Zoom on this time frame, I got the right graph :
[cid:image002.png@01CF6AD8.C2863810]
I don't know if this bug as already been reported, if so, sorry :)
Kind regards,
Colangelo Pierre

RHQ 4.11 released
by Heiko W.Rupp
It is my pleasure to announce the release of RHQ 4.11.
Notable changes are:
• Plugins can now define plugin specific DynaGroup expressions, which can even be auto-activated
• Further agent footprint reduction for jmx-clients (especially if the agent runs on jdk 1.6)
• Much improved agent install via ssh from the RHQ UI.
• Support for Oracle 12 as backend database
• New login screen that follows patternfly.org
As always RHQ is available for download in form of a zip archive. If you want to try out RHQ without too much setup, you can also use a pre-created Docker image fromhttps://index.docker.io/u/gkhachik/rhq-fedora.20/ (the link contains setup information).
Please consult the release notes for further details and a download link.

Special thanks goes to
• Elias Ross
• Michael Burman
for their code contributions for this release.
