4.9 seems to ignore the alert dampening settings
by Attila Heidrich
Hi!
It seems that there's no use to set any dampening for the alert tamplates,
I got all alerts for any of them.
I usually use "one for several hours"... practically I only use templates,
so the servers inherits the settings.
Is there any trick I miss? I have used 4.8 only a few days long, but as far
as I can remember, it worked as I expected.

limits for the inventory size?
by Attila Heidrich
Hi!
Are there any limit of how many services can be defined for a Platform?
Sometimes I loose the ability to create a new entry, like adding a ping
service f.e.
I can add one (ping) for another Platform, but many times I can only add
Clobber and Process plugins for linux Platforms especially.
I guess it isn't a limit, since in a situation like this deleting a ping
service doesn't mean I can add another instead. I can modify one which
already exists, and maybe next time I will also be able to add, but
sometimes I just see an almost empty list.
A use right mouse button over the Platform's name while the Platforms page
is open, and navigate down to the Import line.

What to backup to have the measurements and server configuration?
by Attila Heidrich
Is there any document to describe some answer my question above?
RHQ database is growing quickly, we still need the measurements (at least
some of them) - so we need to have some kind of backup, for case of server
disaster.
I guess there should also be a few rules somewhere to set the time , for
which the data should be kept in the live database.
Is it enough to backup the postgresql database to be sure I can restore a
state, which isn't very old? If I have got a non-empty database, should I
install, or upgrade RHQ?

Postgres 9.2 as backend DB - number of open files grows endless
by Attila Heidrich
Hi!
Am I still the only one on the planet using Pg9.2 as the backend?
It constantly grows the number of open files, the only workaroung I have
found, that I restart the RHQ servers once in every day - the two server
restart are shifted 12 hours. The number of open files ranges between
approximately 6K and 12K after and before restart.
Yes, I use postgres plugin - but I have tried without it, and there's no
difference at all. It is clear for me thet the server itself causes the
problem.
Should I really use another version of Pg? Or a different Database? What's
the recommendation?
Regards,
Attila
p.s. It is a fresh install... Debian 7, as the previous one, Pg is from Pg
repo, RHQ is 4.9

Fresh Default install of RHQ 4.8 - has no JVM Memory Pool Resources metrics
by Steven Thompson
Hi
After a Fresh Default install of RHQ 4.8 - has no JVM Memory Pool
Resources metrics
How do you enable the JVM metrics for the following path - as metrics
are blank?
e.g.
JBossAS7 StandaloneServers ---> EAP RHQ Server ---> platform-mbean -->
memory-pool --> Memory Pool Resources --> PS_Old_Gen
Thanks
In advance
