monitoring open http sessions on a jboss server
by Attila Heidrich
Hi,
is there a way to monitor the open sessions of a jboss server?
I see I have some metrics for the http connector, and the requests per
second value is really useful, but we need some more detailed statistics.
It would be the best to have some browser to select the parameters... ;)
for webapp dveelopers it would be such a great benefit!
Afaik, there're some internal values in the jboss server, should I extend
the JBoss plugin to get a value, which isn't got now?

Load factor
by Elmar Knipp
Hi all,
Is there a metric which is similar to the unix load factor, which you see e.g.
with "uptime" or "top"?
I see "user load" and "system load", but not a combined metric. I want to be
alerted when a system is sweating ;-)
Thanks,
Elmar

Plugins using proprietary API?
by Jaromir Hamala
Hi,
what is a policy on agent plugins requiring proprietary libraries? I'm
writing a plugin to monitor IBM MQ and I would like to contribute it
upstream. Obviously the plugin does require proprietary library in order to
both compile & run.
Cheers,
Jaromir

Graphing problems (Win memory usage)
by Attila Heidrich
Hi!
It was the first time, I had to take a closer look to the memory usage
graphs of a windows Platform, and I find it a bit disturbing.
The numbers are OK, but the graphs may belong to something different. It
shows 1G free, instead of 10Gs, and in a month long graph it can show
1000GB on a 12GB system as well.
Are there known issues with this, or I should post screenshots as well?

Ignore alerts from template for a set of resources?
by Attila Heidrich
Hi!
I would like to ignore an alert - defined in a template - for several
resources.
f.e. I have got an alert template for very low FS free space. Some FSs are
smaller in whole than the free space I would like to have as a minimum for
many of the filesystems.
I can solve it defining the alert for a group, not as a template, just I
would like to know, if I can create a group for ignoring some alerts
generated from template?

how to row the alerts by severity
by Attila Heidrich
Hi!
I have alerts defined on JBoss server availability and deployment state.
The current alert structure is
#1: at status DOWN: alert, disable then
#2: at status UP: alert, recover #1
It generates quite a few false alerts, shows the status down for a minute
or less.
Still I do not want to change the alert #1 to "availability duration", but
I would like to create another one (#3) like this.
My problem is, that #2 should recover both alerts, but there's no way to
define this.
Any idea, how to solve this (I hope the original idea can be catched). I
would like to do stg like this:
#1: when status DOWN, LOW priority, disable then
#2: when status still down after x minutes, prio HIGH, disable then,
recovers #1
#3: when status is UP, recovery both #1 and #2 - whichever is triggered at
the moment
